Suspect In Crash That Killed Bob Barry Jr. Arraigned Monday Morning

OKLAHOMA CITY -A man, accused of making an illegal U-turn and causing a crash that killed local broadcasting giant Bob Barry Jr., has been arraigned Monday morning.

According to authorities, 26-year-old Gustavo Castillo-Gutierrez is being held on $18,500 bond. He was arrested on multiple complaints, including first-degree manslaughter, drug possession, making an illegal U-turn, and driving without a license.

A video arraignment for Castillo-Gutierrez was held at 11 a.m. Monday. A judge told Castillo-Gutierrez that he will be appointed a public defender.

During his arraignment, Castillo-Gutierrez kept his head down low and did not say a word.

On Saturday, police said Barry was on his motorcycle in the left lane on May near Memorial when Castillo-Gutierrez was driving in the right lane. Police said Castillo-Gutierrez made an illegal U-turn in front of Barry, and Barry was thrown from the motorcycle after crashing into Castillo-Gutierrez's car.

A police report states Castillo-Gutierrez told officers he was trying to turn when he hit Barry. Castillo-Gutierrez refused to go to the hospital but he was taken there anyway, and doctors did draw his blood for a blood test and officers did find a packet of white powder in his wallet that tested positive for cocaine.

Now even if Castillo-Gutierrez were to make bond, he would still be held in jail because of that immigration hold. Police did find a Mexican ID card on him.

Barry's funeral is set for this Friday at 11 a.m. at Crossings Community Church .
