It is about time.
Congress demands TB case investigation
By Sara A. Carter and Audrey Hudson
October 18, 2007
Lawmakers on Capitol Hill today criticized Homeland Security officials for allowing a Mexican national infected with a highly contagious form of tuberculosis to cross U.S. borders 76 times and take multiple flights on U.S. airlines.
Republican Sens. Susan Collins of Maine — ranking member of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee — and John Cornyn of Texas are demanding an investigation of the agency and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
"This troubling incident appears to be another outrageous failure of a border security system that is struggling to keep pace with modern threats," Miss Collins said. "It is disturbing that DHS does not have better systems in place for collecting, disseminating, and acting on such information. Following the incident with Mr. Speaker, DHS and the Centers for Disease Control instituted a formal memorandum of understanding to govern information sharing.
"Either that new procedure was not yet in place at the time of this incident or those changes were inadequate. DHS and the CDC must investigate and take corrective action to ensure that the technology, procedures, and training are in place to prevent incidents like these in the future,â€<div>''Life's tough......it's even tougher if you're stupid.''

Gee, when an American citizen had the same illness they detained him and he has lawsuits against him from people that were on the same flight with him, yet this Mexican national can come and go as he pleases....
They have had ample time to stop this man. How people have been infected by him?If you can read this, thank a teacher.
If you can read this in English, thank a soldier.

10-19-2007, 11:10 AM #4So this is all of HS's fault, huh? How about pointing the finger at the real source--the failure of our President to secure the borders while all illegals are entering without any check for immunizations. Bush is at fault, not Chertoff.Never look at another flag. Remember, that behind Government, there is your country, and that you belong to her as you do belong to your own mother. Stand by her as you would stand by your own mother

Now is the time for all of us to use this as maens to deal with illegals. No one can scream racism in cases like this man who knowingly could have infected thousands. We need people to see that there are others out there as well who don't even know they are sick who are spreading it. Immigration has strict medical policies for immigrants which include a TB test, immunization records and if you have none they you need all the shots, and blood tests for AIDS and syphillus but yet illegals walk free and could be infecting all of us. People need to be made aware of this is when it comes to health it many change people's minds who once felt sorry for them.

If we could get rid of the criminals and those that are sick, that would take care of most illegals. We should not have to pay to people who are sick when they enter our country. We need the resources to take care of the Americans that get sick from them.
Everyone who enters our country on visa or any other way should be required to have a medical exam so that we know what they are bringing into the country.
