Readers at Shop.WND.com. have made "The Late Great USA" by Jerome Corsi their first choice among WND's best-sellers this week, but that's not the only place the book is getting attention.

Corsi's investigation into plans for a North American Union also is rising on the New York Times Best-Sellers list, and the U.S. House not only has expressed interest in the book's warnings but has started to take action.

Based on information obtained from the U.S. government through the Freedom of Information Act, Corsi asserts that the same plan used in Europe to implement the European Union may be at work in North America, with the sovereignty of the U.S. in the crosshairs.

That has members of the U.S. House concerned enough that an amendment by Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Calif., has been accepted to prohibit the use of federal funds for participating in working groups under the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America, including the creation of NAFTA superhighways.

Hunter's amendment was added recently to H.R. 3074, the Transportation Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2008 on a 362-63 vote.

"The proposed NAFTA Superhighway presents significant challenges to our nation's security, the safety of vehicle motorists and will likely drive down wages for American workers," Hunter said at the time. "Much like NAFTA, the superhighway is designed to serve the interests of our trading partners and will lead to neither security nor prosperity."

He said the amendment would give Congress the chance to look over the concept, "which remains a subject of question and uncertainty," and also would let those elected to the halls of Washington "ensure that our safety and security will not be compromised in order to promote the business interests of our neighbors."

Corsi's hard-hitting book also has been used by advocates of secure international borders to inform members of the U.S. Senate about what is going on.

Officials with Americans for Legal Immigration Political Action Committee used the book to launch a campaign to tell senators about the SPP and its impacts.

The SPP is an agreement the U.S. has with Canada and Mexico in which a broad range of government functions are being streamlined. Critics of the effort say it is part of an incremental move toward a "North American Community." The Bush administration says it "in no way, shape or form considers the creation of a European Union-like structure or a common currency."

Corsi's research shows the elites in Europe knew it would be necessary to conceal from the people what was being done in their name to create a European Union until it was too late to change the course of events. The book's warning is that the same thing could be happening in the U.S.

In second place is a book that exposes some of the top con operations in America today, "The Marketing of Evil" by WND Managing Editor David Kupelian.

"Marketers are out to get America's youth, and they'll stop at nothing to do it," said Rebecca Hagelin, of the Heritage Foundation. "In 'The Marketing of Evil,' David Kupelian treats parents to a rare insider look at exactly how our children – and adults too – are being lied to, confused, and seduced by radicals and phony experts. The game's over, folks – the con men have been exposed. I urge every parent to read this eye-opening book."

Kupelian reveals how the "widely revered father of the 'sexual revolution'" was a full-fledged psychopath who encouraged pedophilia, and how giant corporations voracious for America's $150 billion teen market infiltrate young people's social groups to find out how better to lead children into ever more debauched forms of "authentic self-expression."

Likewise, the book explains how "abortion rights" and "gay rights" had nothing to do with spontaneous, grassroots uprisings about "rights" but rather were ideas "sold" to America in an audacious public relations campaign.

"David Kupelian dares to tell the truth about the overwhelming forces in our society which take us far away from our original American concept of freedom with responsibility, happiness with commitments, and traditional values," said Dr. Laura Schlessinger, talk-show host and author. "'The Marketing of Evil' is a serious wake-up call for all who cherish traditional values, the innocence of children, and the very existence of our great country."

Kupelian documents how Americans now tolerate and even champion many things – from extreme body piercing and unrestricted abortion-on-demand to teaching homosexuality to grade-schoolers – that would have horrified Americans just one generation earlier.

In third is "The Money Masters," a DVD that fills two volumes with information about the origins and operations of the "banking plutocracy" in America.

It reports that in 1913, President Woodrow Wilson approved the Federal Reserve Act. But within only a few years, he reflected:

"I am a most unhappy man. I have unwittingly ruined my country. A great industrial nation is controlled by its system of credit. … The growth of the nation, therefore, and all our activities are in the hands of a few men."

The set covers the history of monetary reform from Roman Times to the present. It is packed with quotations and is described as absolutely the best production on the Federal Reserve available.

"Outstanding! The best video yet on the history of the Federal Reserve and the mysterious disappearance of America's gold reserves," said Robert Caroll, of Humane World Community, Inc.
