One of Congress’ most outspoken voices on immigration reform said Saturday that providing the 12 million undocumented workers living in the United States a path to legalization is not only necessary but inevitable.

When the baby-boomer generation retires, one-third of the national work force will disappear, and the United States will have no choice but to find more laborers, said U.S. Rep. Luis Gutiérrez, D-Ill., the first Latino member of Congress from the Midwest.

GUTIERREZ: STOP WORKING FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS. YOU HAVE TO WORK FOR AMERICANS. WE DO NOT WANT YOUR ILLEGALS IN THIS COUNTRY GUTIERREZ. NO AMNESTY. GUTIERREZ YOU MUST MOVE TO MEXICO AND WORK FOR MEXICANS. HERE IN THE UNITED STATES CONGRESSMEN HAVE TO WORK FOR US CITIZENS AND LEGAL RESIDENTS. CONGRESSMEN DO NOT WORK FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS.

Ironic that he would give that speech in the state with the higest unemployment rate in the country.

FYI for college educated people the unemployment rate is near 5%. For the rest of the masses it's much much higher , and he's suggesting we bring on 12 million more people so that our working poor can compete with them ? How thoughtfull of him.

Actually, Luis, with economic conditions the way they are and the recent downturn in the value of 401k accounts, and the loss in value of their homes, more and more Boomers are working well into retirement. They simply can't afford to retire in today's economic atmosphere. In fact, they can't afford to continue supporting the illegal invaders with their hands out when their own fortunes have taken a downturn.

12 million undocumented workers

I just realized something about that number that they are always throwing around. According to this article the 12 million number is just the workers. It doesn't include everyone illegally in the US that is not working such as the kids, the mothers, elderly grandparents, Obama's Aunt Zeituni etc. The number would be astronomical if everyone was included in it!

Really?! What a shame. Well, then Chicago needs to boot him out in 2012. Why wouldn't Republicans have run a candidate against Guiterrez? Holy Moly. What a blunder!!

because the illegals and legals in his district want him to fight for amnesty,. and because his district is gerry-mandered to the fact that his district is 90 percent latino anyways.
i doubt a republican will have any chance against this loser for years to come

Probably the most gerrymandered district in the country. Even Luis doesn't live there it's so third world.
