Bible-quoting Kennedy joins clergy in call for immigration reform
CAPITOL HILL Religious leaders have joined a Bible-quoting Senator Edward Kennedy in calling for comprehensive immigration reform.
At a Capitol news conference, the Massachusetts Democrat quoted the Old and New Testaments, prompting an amused Senator Lindsey Graham to call him "Monsignor Kennedy."
But Graham said congressional Republicans are ready to work with Democrats and the White House to pass immigration reform that includes an earned path to citizenship for illegal immigrants.
A Hispanic Evangelical leader, the Reverend Samuel Rodriguez, said that could include learning English and paying fines along with tighter border security.
A Southern Baptist leader, the Reverend Richard Land, said Christians and their churches should "reach out to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of all immigrants."

He'd better start praying for committing his lies to America back in 1986 about the 1.3 million illegals we would never exceed.
And he'd better start praying that amnesty doesn't destroy our One Nation Under God.

Apparently, Kennedy is willing to forsake the 27 million Americans who are unemployed, the 40% of Americans who do not have health insurance, the millions and millions who are poverty-stricken and in low-skilled, low-wage jobs. What becomes of them once 50 million new Third World poor are given amnesty and added to the welfare, Medicaid and subsidized housing ranks? How are Americans to pay for this?
There simply has been NO consideration of Americans and her poor in this plot being promoted by Democrats and church leaders. I keep wondering where is the justice?

Why does the media portray anti immigration people as hate-filled sinners and racists? I pray too, and I'm sure many others do as well. Most of my prayers are simple ones asking 'to keep America "safe", let us remain as "one nation under God", and let illegal immigrants go home and better their countries".'
Senator Kennedy can quote from the Bible all he wants to. But religious figures should not be gathering around to form prayer groups while our leaders are discussing politics. I hope they lose their tax-exempt status.
