Calderon wants North American economies to integrate

    http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/09/world ... f=americas

In the interview, Mr. Calderón argued that the only way the Americas could remain competitive in a world where China and Europe were emerging as major powers once again is to integrate the economies in the Western Hemisphere. He warned that the United States was losing influence.

“What is clear to me is that in Latin America, and in the world, for some reason the United States has been losing friends, and it seems to me it should do everything possible to reach out to the few friends it has left.â€

Calderon was absolutely right when he said...."Where there is a Mexican, there is Mexico".

Some political analysts and advocates for immigrants worry that Mr. Calderón may step on a political land mine on his trip.

    Calderon no better than Fox!

I thought Calderon was going to be better than Fox, but apparently Mexico's goal, no matter who their president is, is to sucker America and Americans to keep footing the bill for THEIR citizens! NO THANKS CALDERON! We've been suckers long enough and it's about time that border fence is built. Please call your US Rep to insist they support the bill recently introduced by Rep. Jones (R) of NC -- I believe it's HB73 (relying on memory). It would require the federal gov't to build a double layered border fence along the entire Mexican border by mid 2009! Find your US Rep at www.vote-smart.org. Call toll free: 1-800-828-0498 and ask for any US Senator or US Rep! The operator will transfer you. Switchboard is 24/7, but it's best to call M-F during the day to speak with an aide.

I am so tired of being Mexico's suckers. Maybe we could regain some economic and political respect by showing a little backbone and pulling 20 million little leeches and one great big leech off.

It's a socio-econimic problem that they are trying to elude/resolve. The pawns really are those who come here illegally. In a sense, we are all victims.
