A twice-convicted felon from Mexico arrested by Nogales Border Patrol agents for again being in the country illegally has been sentenced to nearly seven years in federal prison.
Prosecutors announced Monday that 30-year-old Federico Lopez-Torres was given an 82-month prison term for re-entry of an aggravated felon.

The U.S. Attorney's Office in Tucson prosecuted Lopez-Torres for attempting to re-enter the United States illegally after his March 19 apprehension.

During processing at the Nogales Station, a fingerprint data base showed that Lopez-Torres had a significant criminal record including transportation of illegal immigrants, which resulted in a six-month prison sentence. He also had previous convictions for illegal entry and re-entry of an aggravated felon, which resulted in a 28-month prison sentence.

Prosecutors say Lopez-Torres will be deported again after serving his sentence.
