Release Date:
December 8, 2021

INDIO, Calif. – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the El Centro Sector arrested an undocumented individual Monday morning with prior sexual offense conviction.

At approximately 12:45 a.m., agents assigned to the Indio Station conducted a vehicle stop on Interstate 10 and Dillon Rd. While interviewing the occupants of the vehicle, agents determined that two of the occupants did not possess the proper documentation to be in the United States legally. All three individuals were placed under arrest and transported to the El Centro Sector Processing Center.

Record checks revealed that one of the individuals, a 36-year-old male, Mexican national had prior criminal and immigration history. This individual was previously convicted for a sexual offense: lewd or lascivious acts with a minor under the age of 14. Additionally, this individual was previously ordered to be removed from the U.S. by an immigration judge.

Since Oct. 1, 2021, El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents have arrested and/or removed six individuals either convicted or wanted on sexual offense charges.

U.S. Border Patrol will process the individual accordingly.
