I don't know how close we are to an actual political union of the United States with any other country--apart from strategic defense alliances.

I do, however, resent the attitude that has emerged around the globe that the US somehow bears responsibility for any relaltively disadvantaged position another nation may have and that we should respond to change that. We already are responding as much as we can. Our own economy is in a precarious position--- due in large part to the fact that the burden of being the "parent" of the rest of the world has been shifted to our people.

And I resent the vociferous, but misinformed, people who are making up the open borders lobby who apparently are oblivious to the tremendous amount of good that American volunteers are accomplishing in so many parts of the globe.
