GARFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio -- A couple from Poland ordered to leave the United States six years ago are still living in suburban Cleveland.
Teresa and Stefan Zajac were given 90 days to leave the country in 2000. But they didn't come to the attention of immigration officials again until Teresa Zajac tried to renew her driver's license this year.
They were told in late June to report to an immigration office this week, ready to leave. But they were allowed to return to their home in Garfield Heights on the condition that they get paperwork from the Polish government to start their deportation.
The couple have five U.S.-born children and are counting on help from a bill that U.S. Rep. Dennis Kucinich plans to introduce Monday.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
