    The new year brings new rules for travelers.

    Starting Jan. 31, the Department of Homeland Security will require citizens of the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Bermuda and the Caribbean to show a valid photo ID and proof of citizenship when entering the country by land or sea.

    American travelers no longer will be able to cross the U.S. border just by saying they’re citizens.

    “You can’t just show up at the border and say, ‘I’m a U.S. citizen. Let me in,’â€

    Chertoff forgot to mention that if you're a Mexican citizen NOTHING is required. Just walk in and go directly to the closest welfare office,hospital,school etc. This is only a requirement for law-abiding American citizens. Just making our lives more difficult....

    Or in the case of border states just walk in to go drop your children off at one of our schools

    Of couse there isn't going to be any document fraud going on or anything.
