Crowing Roosters Ruffle Feathers In Los Angeles

Crowing Roosters Ruffle Feathers In Los Angeles

Further proof that LA is no longer 'the city of angels" but is now a 3rd world ghetto.

If the City Council gets its way, Angelenos (illegal aliens) can still have chickens come home to roost - but only one of them can be a rooster.

Cock-a-doodle-do-ing in the wee hours of the morning, illegal backyard cockfighting and odors have led to a surge in neighborhood complaints from the northeast San Fernando Valley to Compton.

But the city has nothing on the books to control its noisy fowl problem.

“We deal with barking dogs, why can’t we deal with crowing roosters?â€

HELLO?!??!!?!?! Roosters belong on FARMS, not urban areas! Talk about taking a city back 100 years! But then again, this is LA run by the strutting little rooster.

This is nothing more than 'fowl' play by the LA City Council! They have no leglislation on the books to ban roosters???? THen WRITE some legislation, for gawd's sake! Excuses, excuses, excuses!

Janet Hahn is an IDIOT! One rooster has the same affect as 50 roosters!

Get rid of the roosters and the illegals!!! Problem solved!

This is directed at cockfighters. One rooster doesn't look like a cockfighting ring. Just a total irritation to neighbors. Lack of respect for the peace of others.

First off zoning. I thought you had to be zoned agriculture to have chickens. Second, because of the big scare of "bird flu" you would think there would be additional care to the issue. Even at chicken farms you have to shower before and after work, they won't even let an employee own any other birds, parakeet to your own farm chickens, and work there for protection against passing disease. They even put poison out to kill wild birds so none get close enough to risk contaminating the flocks. Roosters don't lay eggs so unless they are killing them for food or cockfighting...why have so many. I didn't think slaughtering your own animals was legal in certain areas and cockfighting is illegal.

I know many want a few hens for fresh eggs and I personally would like that.....but zoning prohibits it. Not to again mention the risk of spreading disease....to other birds and also now to humans.

We had a story where they prohibited a woman from feeding birds because the neighbors were complaining it was drawing a host of big wild birds and rodents etc. in the neighborhood and it was a health risk and nusence.

This great country has sent a man to the moon; defeated the most powerful army in the world up to that time in the Revolution; defeated the most powerful armies in the world up to that time in WWII; rebuilt the warn torn countries of Japan and Germany, established and built the greatest free nation ever on the face of the earth; but yet we hear people say that we can’t put 12 to 20 million people on busses and send them home…Hmmmmmmm...

The health dept. inspectors in LA are mostly hispanic, and they turn a blind eye toward their fellow amigos. A couple of years ago, I had to meet a building inspector at a house in south LA. The house was so filthy, I just went as far as the kitchen with the inspector. We opened one of the kitchen cabinet doors...and there was a chicken sitting inside of the cupboard! The house was cited for needed repairs, but not for chickens in the kitchen cabinet. It's just part of life in the barrios.
