CTA Service Affected By Immigration Parade
24 Loop Bus Routes May Experience Delays

(CBS) CHICAGO The Chicago Transit Authority expects that up to 24 Loop bus routes could be delayed by the immigration march on Tuesday.

The march will begin at Union Park, 1501 W. Randolph St. around 1:30 p.m. and end with a rally in Grant Park at 3 p.m.
Participants will walk eastbound on Washington Street to Des Plaines Street, head southbound to Jackson Boulevard and then eastbound to Columbus Avenue. The march will conclude and disband at Grant Park's Hutchinson Field at Balboa.

The affected routes include:

X20 Washington/Madison Express
22 Clark
24 Wentworh
36 Broadway
38 Ogden/Taylor
56 Milwaukee

125 Water Tower Express
127 Madison/Roosevelt Circulator
129 West Loop/South Loop
132 Goose Island Express
134 Stockton/LaSalle Express
135 Clarendon/LaSalle Express
136 Sheridan/LaSalle Express
156 LaSalle
157 Streeterville

CTA will have extra workers available to assist customers with reroutes as the parade makes its way through the Loop. The CTA is advising customers to allow extra travel time.

Chicago Police Department Deputy Superintendent Charles L. Williams stressed the importance of public safety and warned that traffic will be impacted with rolling street closures to minimize traffic delays or disruptions.

Columbus will be closed from Monroe to Randolph. No turns will be possible off Lake Shore Drive from Jackson to Balboa. Michigan Avenue will be closed from Adams to Congress.

Public safety tents will be set up on the southwest corner of Balbo and Columbus to provide information and first aid, according to a police news release. Lost children may be located at that site.

Parking will be restricted at Jackson Blvd. from Des Plaines to Columbus, south to Balboa. Police warn illegaly parked vehicles will be towed.
