Mex govt favors immigration proposal from Kennedy, McCain

MEXICO CITY An aide to President Vicente Fox says the Mexican government favors immigration legislation proposed by U-S Senators Edward Kennedy and John McCain.

The plan would allow current illegal immigrants to work in the U-S for up to six years.

Presidential spokesman Ruben Aguilar today said the bipartisan proposal is the one that comes closest to what Mexico wants. {What, we have to ask Mexihole's permission on how to protect our sovereign country? Hey Aguilar, shove it}

Mexican Foreign Secretary Luis Ernesto Derbez discussed such issues yesterday during meetings in Washington.

President Bush has urged Congress to act on a guest worker program and has proposed a plan that would allow undocumented workers to get three-year work visas.

Those visas could then be extended for three more years. Immigrants would then have to return to their home countries for one year to seek a new work permit.
