At Davos, GOP Rep. Maria Salazar Urges ‘Dignity’ For ’13, 15 Million’ Illegal Immigrants In The US

Republican Florida Rep. Maria Salazar on Tuesday urged Congress to provide “dignity” to millions of illegal immigrants as part of an overhaul of U.S. immigration laws.
Salazar spoke during the America (Un)Bound panel at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland. “There’s no way that the United States can continue being what it is, the most important power in the world, the number-one economy in the world, if we don’t have hands,” she said. “I represent the Hispanics, which are the largest minority in the country. We are 23%. And the overwhelming majority of the people who are crossing the border as we speak are Hispanics, Latinos, like I am.”
A second-term congresswoman, Salazar represents a Miami-based congressional district that is 70% Hispanic.
68% of adult residents speak Spanish at home, according to the U.S. Census, and 52% are immigrants.
Salazar has repeatedly expressed interest in immigration reform, introducing legislation in February 2022 that would increase border security and give longtime illegal immigrants a pathway to permanent resident status.
The WEF later made its livestream of the panel private. A WEF spokeswoman did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller’s request for comment on why the organization made the video private.

“And this nation, and I believe people like me in Congress, should be the ones telling the rest of the political elite that it’s time for both parties to pay attention to something that, for the last 35 years, neither party has been able to do, which is to pass complete overhaul of the immigration system. Because not only do we need those hands, like the senator was saying, but we need to also give dignity to those people who are in the country,” Salazar continued.
“Because those are the people that I represent. We’re talking about 13, 15 million people who are, most of them, Hispanics, I would say 85%, who speak my language, look like me and sound like me, that are contributing with the economy of this country. And they live in the shadows. So it’s time to seal the border … and then turn around and give dignity. That doesn’t mean a path to citizenship, that means to include them and make them dignified members of our community,” she said.
Independent Arizona Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, who was also on the panel, worked on an immigration reform package alongside Republican North Carolina Sen. Thom Tillis in the waning days of the 117th Congress.
Although the two did not succeed in passing legislation, they are continuing their efforts in the 118th Congress.
Experts estimate that between 11 and 15 million illegal immigrants currently reside in the U.S. Federal officials encountered nearly 2.4 million migrants at the U.S.’s southwestern border in Fiscal Year 2022, a record number.

And growing rapidly.
And the overwhelming majority of the people who are crossing the border as we speak are Hispanics, Latinos, like I am.
Build up the army.

Sounds like colonization.
Her whole speech sounds disrespectful to me as an American. People should come here to be Americans. That's what my ancestors did.
I was on a plane and a few rows ahead of me was a young guy, probably of Puerto Rican descent. Seated next to him was a middle-aged Hispanic couple. The man repeatedly said to the young guy, "You're one of us". The young guy replied, "no I'm not. I was born here". They went back and forth. The young guy had the right attitude in my opinion. When do Latinos become just Americans?

Watch–Republican Maria Salazar Lectures Americans in Davos: Illegal Aliens Are Owed Amnesty
by JOHN BINDER 17 Jan 2023
Rep. Maria Salazar (R-FL) lectured Americans while in Davos, Switzerland, for the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting, urging them to accept amnesty for the nation’s 11 to 22 million illegal aliens.
During a panel discussion alongside Sens. Joe Manchin (D-WV), Kyrsten Sinema (I-AZ), and others, Salazar said some form of amnesty is necessary for illegal aliens living across the United States. She said:
We need to also give dignity to those people who are in the country and those are the people that I represent. We’re talking about 13 to 15 million people — who are, most of them, Hispanics, I would say 85 percent who speak my language, look like me, and sound like me — who are contributing to the economy of this country and they live in the shadows.
“So it’s time to seal the border … let’s see who comes in and who doesn’t and then turn around and give dignity, that doesn’t mean a path to citizenship, that means to include them and make them dignified members of our community,” she continued.
Last year, Salazar joined six other House Republicans in unveiling an amnesty plan that would have allowed illegal aliens to secure 10-year work permits to hold American jobs before then applying for green cards to permanently reside in the U.S.
An amnesty for illegal aliens, which would hugely inflate the U.S. labor market and likely spur more vast waves of illegal immigration, is critical for many of Salazar’s largest donors, who include real estate developers looking to build more housing and Wall Street-linked financial firms focused on driving up the number of consumers and available workers.
Independent analysis has shown that amnesty, in addition to more legal immigration, is a net loss for Americans’ job security and wages.
In 2013, Congressional Budget Office (CBO) analysis stated that the “Gang of Eight” amnesty plan would “slightly” push down wages for American workers. Another CBO analysis, published in 2020, stated that “immigration has exerted downward pressure on the wages of relatively low-skilled workers who are already in the country, regardless of their birthplace.”
Other research finds current legal immigration to the U.S. results in more than $530 billion worth of lost wages for Americans.
Recent peer-reviewed research by economist Christoph Albert acknowledges that “as immigrants accept lower wages, they are preferably chosen by firms and therefore have higher job finding rates than natives, consistent with evidence found in US data.”
Every year, the U.S. gives green cards to more than a million foreign nationals who can eventually sponsor an unlimited number of foreign relatives for green cards — a process known as “chain migration.” In addition, more than a million are brought to the U.S. on temporary work visas to take America jobs and millions of illegal aliens are arriving at the southern border annually. Many are being released into the U.S. interior where they can secure work permits.

They should have their "dignity" back home where they belong!
Go open businesses there and put them to work in their country.
When do Latinos go fix their own mess of a country lady????
USA owes them nothing but a bus ticket back home! We are not the dumping ground for the entire world.ILLEGAL ALIENS HAVE "BROKEN" OUR IMMIGRATION SYSTEM
