VEKOL VALLEY, Ariz. - The body of a possible illegal immigrant has been found in the Vekol Valley desert, south of Interstate-8.

A ranger with the U.S. Bureau of Land Management found the dead body on Monday night. The ranger was in the desert assisting the Border Patrol, who were tracking a group of armed drug traffickers.

The body of an adult Hispanic male was laying face down on top of a fully loaded AK-47 assault rifle. Nearby were survival supplies and more ammunition.

Authorities say the man had been dead for about a week. A Pinal County medical examiner will determine a cause of death.
