Dean: GOP Will Use Immigration to Divide

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051203/ap_ ... NlYwN0bWE-

By JACQUES BILLEAUD, Associated Press Writer 42 minutes ago

Republicans plan to use the vast problems caused by illegal immigration to try and divide Americans voting in next year's midterm election, Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean said Saturday.

"Once again, the Republicans created problems so they think they can come in and solve them," Dean told DNC members meeting in Phoenix.

Thousands of illegal immigrants cross America's borders each year to work better-paying jobs. The Pew Hispanic Center estimates that 11 million illegal immigrants now live in the United States.

Immigration is gaining prominence in politics, especially in Arizona and other states in the West, the busiest illegal entry point along the 2,000-mile U.S.-Mexico border.

President Bush has urged Congress to let illegal immigrants get three-year work visas that could be extended for an additional three years. Then, they would have to return home for a year to apply for a new work permit.

Dean said the government should have an "earned legalization" program in which immigrants who contribute to society and pay taxes should be able to earn the right to become citizens.

The DNC chairman also criticized Bush for not working with Mexico to confront America's immigration problems. "Work with Mexico to improve economies in rural America and rural Mexico, and you will stop the flood of people wanting to come to America," Dean said.

Republican National Committee spokesman Tucker Bounds said Democrats are out of touch with voters on border security.

"Dean's blatant mischaracterization of Bush's agenda is his best effort to mask the Democrats' unmistakable lack of a plan and any connection with voters on issues that matter," Bounds said.

Dean said Democrats will appeal to voters on other issues by offering tax law changes that treats middle-class families fairly, health care for more Americans and plan for withdrawing troops from the war in Iraq.

"The collapse of the Republican confidence in the Republican leadership is not enough to elect Democratic leadership," Dean said. "We have stand up for what we believe."
It's like hell vomited and the Bush administration appeared.

Is there a way to make this thread fit the page????

I THINK I hope Dean is CRAZY if he thinks the American people are going to go along with EARNED LEGALIZATION. That PROBABLY means EARNED CITIZENSHIP.

And, he thinks AMERICA should work with Mexico to improve their economy?? Well, WHAT does he think NAFTA was supposed to do?? That obviously didn't work because we have sure had a tremendous influx since NAFTA was signed into law. I think MEXICO needs to work to improve their OWN economy and they need to start with getting rid of the corruption that permeates their government.

Dean is from Vermont and the fund-raiser for the Democratic Party.

One of their largest contributors is George Soros, Mr. Open Society Open Borders, naturalized citizen with no love or allegiance to the United States whose businesses are all off-shore and who pays no income tax. He lives here only to make money through financial arbitrage. He produces nothing, contributes nothing, came here England, who took him in as he left Hungary during the German Occupation. He is a self-confessed socialist.

I doubt Dean will take any stand that would interfere with his fund-raising activities even if the contributors are from the "dark side".

    Same old open borders propoganda.

"Dean said the government should have an "earned legalization" program in which immigrants who contribute to society and pay taxes should be able to earn the right to become citizens."

Ummm Dr. Deaniac, the US already has a program like that. It is called LEGAL IMMIGRATION! And how are you going to convince Americans, who see with their own eyes that illegal aliens are a giant drain on society, are the opposite? No amount of media propoganda and political spin will change their minds. If anything everytime this is done Americans will grow even more angry with the politicians who push it.

Hey, did you know Canada's Supreme Court in one of it's provinces legalized pot because their citizens wanted to use it during chemotherapy. Apparently it has a soothing effect on the system and helps eliminate the sickness and nausea of chemotherapy. So, citizens went to court, proved their case, and now it's legal for everybody in that province. So far, there hasn't been any harmful effects or downside reported. So they are thinking about making it legal nationally.

Believe it or not--I took a poll on O'Reilly back MONTHS ago that asked if I thought it should be legalized for medical use and I answered YES because I have heard SO MANY people say that it does work for the chemo AND for pain. NOW, before you jump to any conclusions, I have never even SEEN POT. NEVER!!! NO LIE!
