Maine’s Republican State Senators and Representatives issued a joint statement Monday in support of the State of Texas’ constitutional right to defend its borders from illegal crossings by migrants.

“The Biden Administration is purposefully jeopardizing our national security and economic and public safety by its outright refusal to enforce our southern border,” the Maine GOP lawmakers stated Monday. “This extraordinarily dangerous action is allowing millions of illegal immigrants, poisonous drugs and human traffickers to flow into our country.”

The statement comes amid an ongoing legal battle between Texas and the Biden administration regarding the Texas National Guard taking control of a park and setting up razor wire to deter illegal crossings in the border town of Eagle Pass.

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled 5-4 last week to vacate an injunction by Texas that blocked federal border patrol officials from cutting or removing the razor wire installed by Texas law enforcement along the Rio Grande River.

Since the Supreme Court Ruling, Texas Gov. Greg Abbot has reaffirmed his state’s right to defend its border and prevent the Biden administration from removing the razor wire, arguing that the federal government’s “refusal to enforce immigration laws” has caused an “unprecedented invasion that we must defend against.”

The Maine Republican legislators concurred with the State of Texas’ constitutional argument, stating that Article 4, Section 4 of the Constitution provides a guarantee from the federal government to the states of protection from invasion.

“The Biden Administration is clearly abdicating its constitutional duty and placing Americans at substantial risk,” the GOP lawmakers stated.

“Every single Maine town and city is experiencing the disastrous impact of the drug cartels’ efforts to smuggle poisonous drugs like fentanyl into our communities,” the statement reads. “Maine families are losing loved ones from overdoses; and the Biden Administration’s border policy is clearly complicit in their deaths.”

“As a northern border state, we Republicans of the Maine State Legislature understand how crucial it is to maintain the integrity of our sovereign border and the rule of law. Therefore, we stand with the State of Texas in their constitutional battle with the Federal Government and call on the Biden Administration to start protecting the integrity of our southern border,” the lawmakers concluded.

So far, the only member of Maine’s congressional delegation to speak publicly about the ongoing quarrel between Texas and Biden administration is Democratic Congressman Jared Golden (ME-01).

“I think states on the border should take more action and more responsibility for their own borders — which by the way, we see in Texas,” Golden said in an interview with News Center Maine earlier this month.

“I mean, in Texas, they put that kind of contraption out in the river, I thought that was fine,” Golden said. “And I think that governors in other states have to answer to the people that live there.”

Twenty-five Republican state governors — all except Vermont Gov. Phil Scott — have voiced their support of Gov. Abbot.

All our states are being INVADED, we are all a border state now, and every state Governor should invoke Article 4, Section 4.

    Round them up!

Process them in our stadiums and bus them to Washington D.C. or send them back home!
