Deconstructing AP Story on Minutemen

RUSH: (AP) "Hundreds of volunteers, some of them armed, are expected to take up positions along the Mexican border Friday and begin patrolling for illegal immigrants - an exercise some fear could attract racist crackpots and lead to vigilante violence." I'll tell you, here you have a peaceful bunch of people that will just go down there and be observers and look at how they're being characterized now, as racist crackpots. Some of the volunteers will be armed. "Organizers of the Minuteman Project said the civilian volunteers, many of whom were recruited over the Internet, will meet first for a rally in this one-time silver mining town, then fan out across 23 miles of the San Pedro Valley to watch the border for a month and report sightings of illegal activity to Border Patrol agents. Minuteman field operations director Chris Simcox described the project as 'the nation's largest neighborhood watch group' and said one of the goals is to make the public aware of how porous the border is. Jim Gilchrist, a retired accountant from Aliso Viejo, Calif., who organized the project, said that some volunteers will carry handguns, which is allowed under Arizona law, but are being instructed to avoid confrontation, even if shot at. Critics contend--" And I just love this. This is the formula for journalism. So you have a bunch of guys, people, going to go out there, the Minutemen. They're going to go out and they're going to watch. So the first thing the journalists have to do is go find critics that can say the most outrageously negative things about them; gotta go find the critics -- and, you know, critics are easy to find. Everybody is a critic.

"Critics contend the project may attract anti-immigrant racists and vigilantes looking to confront illegal immigrants. At least one white supremacist group has mentioned the project on its Web site. 'They are domestic terrorists that represent a danger to the country and could promote a major border conflict that will have serious ramifications and consequences,' said Armando Navarro, a University of California-Riverside political science professor and coordinator of the National Alliance for Human Rights, made up mostly of Hispanic activists." Okay, so we've got some biased critics who are treated as mainstream, objective, unbiased critics, who throw out the notion that it might attract anti-immigrant racists -- and so the critics' speculation ends up in the lead of the story. "An exercise some fear could attract racist crackpots." If you ask me, if some racist crackpots show up, they will be plants. They will be people who will be trying to make themselves look like they're members of the Minutemen in order to discredit the Minutemen. That's how these things generally work and, of course, the media will obviously be buffaloed and fooled and scammed into believing that the critics were right all along when in fact it may be the critics that end up corrupting the event.

Dear American Friends:

This letter was sent to Rush Limbaugh and many major newspapers across the Nation today. A good comment to Minutemen smear tactics and a mode of thought I just thought of is that: Illlegal Aliens and mexico are the Violators here that have caused this NOT the Minutemen.

Letter:

The Minutemen Project are simply Americans doing a large neighborhood watch for illegal activity on their property Rights. The many and majority of Americans simply have the Right of Property and U.S. domain and can clearly see thievery, rape and trespassing violation by a group of rude pillaging people who mainly come from one known place - mexico. Since illegal Aliens violate the U.S. Border they are open to lawful rehabilitation by the United States and its Citizens who support U.S. law. So it's quite clear.

Americans support Legal Immigration to the United States. Americans are all for the positive community that Mr. Armando Navarro (National Alliance for Human Rights) and other Latino leaders call for but this can't occur with illegal Intruders bankrupting budgets, overcrowding schools, rude demanding by unwelcome newcomers for money, hospitals closures, crime such as ID theft, counterfeiting, etc. that ends up costing American communities. Clearly the Border needs to be secured to deny illegal Aliens that especially enter from mexico.

It's not a matter of hate or racism as many want to call it, it's a matter of Legal or Illegal Entry of the United States just as Mexico has Laws of legal entry that it enforces. The laws are there with good reason to prevent what is occuring now and to prevent torn families, deaths etc.

Real IMMIGRANTS who adapt to U.S. English language and Culture, not Invaders, are welcome to America just as its always been and many previous Immigrants have done to happily become Americans. The current rude unwelcome Invader mexicans/latino/hispanics who falsely call themselves "Immigrants" know they are not immigrants and have to be deported. What isn't there to understand about the word 'RAPE' or 'ILLEGAL'??

When is mexico going to take responsibility for its actions?? When?? Instead of Vicente' Fox being so concerned about the illegal Act of U.S. violation he should be yelling and working to fix his broken Country. Vicente' needs to care about mexico if mexico is so great. The Minutemen and Americans are simply asking for mexico and all the rude illegal Invader folk like Mr. Armando Navarro to acknowledge they are wrong and to "knock it off". Americans know mexico's agenda and its to be repealed and cutoff. The U.S. acceptance for ANY illegal immigration does mexico no good in the long run.

For Vicente' Fox to be talking about any concept of Law is like having Burglars talk about safeguarding Banks. Vicente' should just realize that the Minutemen are just 'nice Undocumented' Border Patrol workers who happened to forget those "silly little papers."

Mexico is the cause of its own condition and is to learn by having its faults, corruption, overpopulation, Mexican Gov't negligence, corrupt control of wealth away from their citizens and their DELIBERATE ILLEGAL ENTRY of U.S. Land pushed on them. Jammed into the brain and intellect of Mexico is to be a stick of hard times in being force fed the truth that there is nothing left or to be had by illegal mexicans North of the Border. Too bad...learn the lesson. Mexican officials have no business and no right to say Anything about what Americans or the Minutemen do on U.S. soil. Illegal aliens in the U.S. is none of mexico's business. Illegal Aliens cram into houses and hide in fear because they know they are wrong. Now the Minutemen are to start the process of mexico getting its medicine. The Minutemen are the act of American freedom against the wrongs and crime from rude Intruders who know they are wrong.

The time has come to no longer tolerate illegal immigration and secure the Border.

Anyone who can ignore the illegal alien problem for this long can no longer claim to be "on the cutting edge of societal evolution."

I'm glad Rush is finally speaking up but he's late to the game. He throws us crumbs once in a while when he talks about illegal immigration but his main concern is for his party, not his country. He is right to be worried. I agree with him that illegal immigration will probably split the GOP.

America is under attack. We're fighting more than one kind of terrorism. There's the kind that flys planes into buildings and slits people's throats. There's another kind that bankrupts and balkanizes. Our soldiers fight to save us from the first kind. We need to fight to preserve America from the second kind (and the first kind who sneak in over our wide open borders).

Illegal immigration is the single most importan issue to the survival of our country right now. If Rush can dedicate the majority of his show to the democrat "implosion" or Terri Schiavo or Social Security, he should certainly dedicate a few programs to illegal immigration.

Roger Hedgecock and other radio talk show hosts will be broadcasting from Capitol Hill later this month in the Hold Their Feet to the Fire rally. Will Rush have the courage to join them?

Rush depends on the left vs. right sports mentality for his bread and butter. Without the false Ford vs. Chevy paradigm, Rush wouldn't know what to say. There's a lot of topics that he won't even touch, such as the Federal Reserve. I'm still trying to figure out if he addressed the vigilantee comment made by Bush.
