Long pilloried for being soft on illegal immigration, top Democratic officials have concluded there’s only one way they can hope to pass a comprehensive immigration bill:

Talk more like Republicans.

They’re seizing on the work of top Democratic Party operatives who, after a legislative defeat in 2007, launched a multiyear polling project to craft an enforcement-first, law-and-order, limited-compassion pitch that now defines the party’s approach to the issue.

The 12 million people who unlawfully reside the country? Call them “illegal immigrants,â€

That means responsibility from government to secure our borders, something we have done and will continue to do.

It means responsibility from businesses that break the law by undermining American workers and exploiting undocumented workers — they’ve got to be held accountable.

In the McCain Kenndey bill the fine was $2,000.00, but they were going to be allowed to file for unearned income tax credits retroactively for 5 years, the maximum was over $4,000.00 per year. The latest bill is a rehash of the McCain Kennedy Bill.

so for a $2,000 investment, they can get $20,000 from the government? What a deal!! Where do I sign up?

GREAT IDEA. If reform rewards criminals with our tax dollars, lets all apply for AMNESTY to get our fair share.

This is poll-tested cheap deceptive spin from the Democrats and pro-amnesty special interests. We will not and cannot let them control the language of the debate.

No matter how much they try to dress this up, what they are proposing is mass amnesty.

Democrats have spent more than two years trying to figure out why Americans don't like their plans to turn millions of illegal immigrants into Democratic Party voters. Some Democratic consultants have found that the public viewed the party's soft pandering to illegals transparent and offensive. So they propose changing the language the left uses, Politico.com reported Thursday.

"When (voters) hear 'undocumented worker,' they hear a liberal euphemism; it sounds to them like liberal code," Drew Westen, a Democratic political consultant told Politico. "I am often joking with leaders of progressive organizations and members of Congress, 'If the language appears fine to you, it is probably best not to use it. You are an activist, and by definition you are out of the mainstream.' "

What an admission! The consultants advised Democrats and left-wing activists to adopt conservative language. Call them "illegal immigrants" instead of "undocumented workers." Don't say you'll put them on "an earned path to citizenship," say you want to "require" them to register and pay taxes.

The language is different, but the ultimate goal is the same: Grant citizenship to immigrants who came here illegally, unionize them, and register them as Democrats.
