Deportations Futile Without Border Security and Employer Compliance

The Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency (ICE) reports that during the fiscal year 2007 (ending Sept. 30), ICE deported 221,600 illegal immigrants at an expense of $1.9 billion dollars.

Allowing for some margin of increase, which might be expected as they become more proficient at their job, it can be roughly estimated that at this rate it will take ICE somewhere between approximately 85 to 90 years just to remove the more than 20 million illegal aliens already in the U.S. at an expense that I won’t even bother to try and calculate but I will venture to say is far beyond the range of what could be termed “astronomical.â€
