Advocacy group estimates 1.6 million children, spouses separated from kin

An estimated 1.6 million children and spouses have been separated from family members forced to leave the country under toughened 1996 immigration laws, a human rights group said Wednesday.

The separations have taken a toll on families who have sold homes, lost jobs, lost businesses or been thrown into financial turmoil, Human Rights Watch said in a new report.

The widespread impact on American families has been truly devastating, said Alison Parker, a senior researcher with Human Rights Watch.

In 1996, Congress toughened immigration laws making immigrants, legal and illegal, deportable according to an expanded list of “aggravated felonies.â€

If your ordered deported get out!!! take your family with you!! Another law suit by someone who refuses to obey the law, all I can do is shake my head, this kind of maddness has to stop!

Illegal and Legal Immigrants Taking Toll On American Families!

OK, lets take this biased report and add a little balance. What about the AMERICAN CITIZENS that were hurt by the activity of illegal and legal immigrants? What are the statistics there? How many families have lost members to illegals commiting crimes? How many children have been raped and further abused that will never be the same! How many border patrol agents are in jail or have suffered injury or death because of the actions of illegal immigrants? How much of the monies of the American people been robbed by such activity?

So the question is: How much does the senora and bambinos want to be reunited with the macho hombre back home after he's deported?

This might be an area where american volunteers can help; tracking the families point of origin and finding some helpful missionaries there who can give them some reason to reunite. Maybe they can come up with some good social services in the old country and combine that with some prodding. Oh well, I can dream...

Forging a check is a felony.

I'm sure these children that are being left behind will be getting government aid that they will be sending home to the dearly deported! Even though according to the 14th amendment children born on US soil of illegals are not considered citizens because they are not under the jurisdiction of the federal government!

1.6 million children and spouses are free to leave with the family members who have been deported.
