Deputies: Man Arrested In Sexual Assault Of Boy



SAN DIEGO -- A man was arrested Monday on allegations he sexually assaulted a 13-year-old boy near a Poway school, sheriff's deputies said.

Officials said they took Jesus Nava into custody Monday following the alleged attack on the teen near Meadowbrook Middle School.

Deputies said they responded to the school, located at 12320 Meadowbrook Lane around 3 p.m. They spoke to the victim, who told them he had been approached by a man who took him to a rural hillside west of the campus, gave him alcohol and then assaulted him.

The boy was taken to Pomerado Hospital and then transported to Palomar Hospital.

Deputies searched the area where the alleged attack occurred, but the suspect was gone. They did collect evidence that suggested the man had been spending nights at the scene.

After dark, a sheriff's helicopter was brought in to assist the search. The chopper located a heat source near the scene, officials said, which turned out to be Nava. He initially fled from deputies, but was arrested after a short foot chase.

Nava was booked into County Jail on a number of child molestation charges with a bail amount of $235,000. He is also being detained on an immigration hold, deputies said.
