The number two Democrat in the Senate is urging the House of Representatives not to repudiate a provision in the immigration reform bill that would force the U.S. to consult with Mexico before building a border fence.

"To think that we would build a fence without any conversation or consultation with Mexico - that doesn't make sense," Sen. Dick Durbin told "Fox News Sunday."

Asked why he felt such consultations were necessary, the top Democrat explained: "Good fences make good neighbors, too. And remember that when it's all over there will be cities across the border from one another in the United States and Mexico. And you'll find in most instances they'll try to find a level of cooperation.

"We ultimately want to have the cooperation of the Mexican government," Durbin insisted.

An amendment slipped into the Senate bill at the last minute by Sen. Chris Dodd mandates consultations with Mexican officials before any fence construction begins.
    It reads:

"CONSULTATION REQUIREMENT -- Consultations between United States and Mexican authorities at the federal, state, and local levels concerning the construction of additional fencing and related border security structures along the United States-Mexico border shall be undertaken prior to commencing any new construction, in order to solicit the views of affected communities, lessen tensions and foster greater understanding and stronger cooperation on this and other important issues of mutual concern."

I am not one of the "we" you speak of. If you had half a brain, you'd realize we need the Mexican government to BUTT OUT of our country and how we run it! But I'm sure the instructions in your copy of the game plan for SPP don't include that admonition.

You are one taco short of a combination plate! One beer short of a six pack! Your elevator doesn't come all the way to the top. Your porch light is on but no one is home.

    You are a doofus!

The water is getting a little warmer in this melting pot they're cooking us in.

Specter's Amendment 4188 is the SPP and CFR amendment mandating Sacrifice of our sovereign rights : ie: no fence building unless blah blah blah with Mexico. Dodd's amendment was tabled and then incorporated into SA4188 and agreed to.

THIS AMENDMENT MUST BE STRICKEN!! If it - or any facimile of it survives and passes into LAW- you will know in the HOUSE as well as what you already know by the Senate vote on this amendment- who is against "We the People of the United States of America"

Ain't he a sweetheart? That's who's looking out for my best interest. He talks out both sides.

Anyone watch that Curse of King Tuts Tomb last night? Movie sucked but there was one line I liked. The guy says, "well, I like to keep an open mind." and the woman said, "Anymore open and your brain will fall out!"

all these 'agreements' with Mexico, you'd think the Congress actually had the power to consider such a stupid thing. The only consultation Congress has the power to engage in is with the citizens and the states -- the forgotten majority.

Clearly, corporate America, Mexico, illegals and the democrat and republican parties have more of a voice in the federal govrenment than the citizens and the states
