Lou Dobbs Tonight
Tuesday July 15, 2008

Tonight, we’ll have the latest on the salmonella outbreak that
has made more than 1,100 people sick (that’s the official
number – but estimates range above 40,000 because most cases go
unreported) while the Food and Drug Administration has stood
by, doing nothing. Plus:

* Drug violence continues to wreak havoc on Mexican cities, and
the violence is spilling over the border and directly feeding
the violence in cities like Los Angeles, New York and Chicago.
Mexican drug cartels have infiltrated nearly 200 cities across
the U.S. says a recent report by the National Drug Intelligence
Center.

* The Labor Department was created to protect U.S. workers, but
these days the agency seems to be slighting American workers at
every turn. We’ve reported extensively on the Cheap Labor
Department’s easing of visa regulations to bring in more cheap
foreign workers. Now there is new evidence from the General
Accountability Office that the Labor Department is not
enforcing this country’s minimum wages and hour laws.

* Inflation is up sharply and the dollar today hit an all-time
low against the Euro. Investors and everyday Americans are
gravely concerned about the solvency of U.S. banks. But
President Bush seems to still believe the country is fine and
dandy and said today that the system is “basically sound.â€
