Three tons of pot seized at border

CALEXICO – Border authorities announced Sunday that they seized more than 6,000 pounds of marijuana with a street value of $5.9 million and arrested the driver of a truck where the drugs were found mingled with a shipment of door knobs.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers made the seizure about 7 p.m. Friday at the Calexico Port of Entry’s secondary cargo inspection area.

A canine team alerted officers about the possibility of drugs inside a 1998 trailer. Officers found 458 wrapped packages of marijuana concealed in 67 cardboard boxes.

The driver, described as a 30-year-old Mexicali man, was arrested and turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents for further investigation.

The Feds need to sell this pot to the Legal Marijuana Dispensaries and make a profit on it instead of just destroying it.

I agree John. That is a great idea. But first they should inspect it for contaminants. It is grown under unsupervised and unregulated conditions. Other than that, YES they should make use of it.
