Dobbs Reaches Out to Latinos, With Politics in Mind

As a great leader once said "there you go again"..This man has shown himself to be a dressed up street whore like all the rest we have in D.C. ANYTHING for votes. I guess its not possible to get an honest person to speak for us anymore. When this country shatters into hundreds of splinter governments at least we can try to move to the flavor that attacts us. I am 68 years old. served my country in harms way and I am filled with Sad to say its in a large part my generations fault. We were to busy working to secure a future as we we taught, we closed our eyes to the greed in our Gov. We even began to chucle when news of coruption hit the papers.."they all do it" was the response..We even shook our head and grinned when Clinton shamed this land of ours."Oh that Bill" like speaking of a dark sheep in the family. I belive its all going to come crashing down and we will have to rebuild this country anew, maybe its for the best. I don't advocate the forced removal of ILLEGALS.

I do believe that we can inspire or motivate them to self-deport by removing the jobs and free social services magnets that brought them here in the first place.

Dear Maria Celeste (and Mexicans everywhere),

Your recent interview with Lou Dobbs, while interesting, fell far below the expectations of many here in the USA. While I am happy that you were able to clear the air with him on some personal ‘sticking points’, it is not clear at this point that he speaks for the rest of us, or even for many of us.

Notwithstanding the viewpoint of several of our (current) misguided, elected officials, I know that most American people will embrace what I say here and I wish Mr. Dobbs had spent his last six minutes saying this instead…

When your countrymen come here uninvited, they cause great harm to our country, our individual citizens and our society as a whole.

Imagine if you will, a large ship in a great ocean with many people onboard and also in the water. The people on the ship, as humanitarians, will take as many from the water as the ship can hold, but there comes a time when, as heartbreaking as it is, more will only serve to drag the ship down, causing the destruction of the vessel, and all aboard would perish.

Mexico cannot rightfully accuse the US of turning a blind eye to their needs. No one can. Our government, churches and other organizations have extended a hand not only to your country, but to other countries as well. Mexico is but one of many. We do not feel that we are superior PEOPLE, but that our way of life is superior, is undeniable. In that regard, our country has honored much of the world in trying to point the way. Not by ‘giving a man a fish’ but by ‘teaching a man to fish’. Leading by example.

If other governments are unwilling to follow that example because their leaders are unwilling to give up being all powerful despots, despite the wants and desperate needs of the people they should be serving, their failures cannot rightfully be piled on the shoulders of the people of the United States of America.

People who illegally cross the border from your country, or any country for that matter, to ours- flaunt our laws and weaken our way of life. They bear no resemblance to legal immigrants who seek a better life, are law abiding, who will pledge allegiance to our great county, its flag and all that it represents. In exchange for that allegiance, legal immigrants are people who are sponsored and become part of our family.

Collectively, illegal immigrants have no regard for what they can offer, only what they can gain. It doesn’t matter to them that the American people, along with its economy, its social programs, its healthcare, its schools and its laws suffer greatly at their expense. They undermine the efforts of even legal immigrants from their own country. Because of their selfishness, we tend to view all with suspicion.

One of the first things that many do is give birth to a child, creating an ‘American’, turning our true compassionate nature into a web that uses our own reasonable laws to ensnare us. Many in this country are now calling for an end to this practice to the detriment of all those who may come later. Illegals do not see, or do not care, about their contribution to our debt because of this. Indeed, all of California is now sinking at the expense of the southern part- in large part because of them.

They come here demanding rights to which they are not entitled under OUR Constitution. It’s OURS, not yours, not theirs. They grievously harm us, turning us against one another. They accuse us of being uncaring when it is THEY who are unfeeling- and ignorant as well. How can they believe it is ‘FREE’? Someone pays, WE pay!! Many are self-centered opportunists who take what they can and destroy the rest. Midnight robbers. Why not? They have nothing in it. If it gets bad, they will just run ‘home’ with what they can carry.

In order to survive, many come here as pack mules for your ever increasing drug trade. This helps destroy our economy, but more than that, it KILLS DEAD our citizens and our children. Should we embrace this? No, we will not! It does nothing but foster hatred between our countries’ respective citizens and cultures. Your culture that they will not surrender and our culture that they will not embrace. Can they not see the two-facedness of their actions? If they cared at all for anything but their own personal gain, they would see the problems they are causing and would LEAVE!

Individually, are they not just people searching for a better life? Absolutely. MOST are. Most are happy, huggable, loveable, beautiful people. Willing to work hard and struggle to make a modest living. That’s what makes it so hard. Humanity. That is exactly why this must end. That’s why we MUST harden our hearts and stop our government from granting another amnesty to your people. If we become you, where will you go? This is madness.

We have many problems in America of our own making. Still, we stand as a shining beacon to the much of the rest of the world. The solution is not to take what we have, but to take what we OFFER. We OFFER temporary work visas, student visas and permanent LEGAL immigration. The American people embrace ALL who come here in an orderly, lawful way to work and learn for a time in accordance with our laws. Then, the only reasonable way to share what we have, is for those same people to take what they have learned back to their own countries and work hard at improving life THERE.

Mexico is a beautiful country. There is as much opportunity to be fruitful there as there is here, possibly even more. Among other things, it has the potential to be one of the great travel destinations of people the world over. What you gain now from that single industry is a mere pittance compared to what it could be. When your government realizes the true cost of letting corruption and lawlessness run rampant, will it be too late?

If you and your government want to make a real difference, you should stop allowing this exodus from Mexico and call your miscreant countrymen to return of their own accord. Start all over and do it right. It would be the best thing for all.

Lastly, let me make this perfectly clear. To many Americans, Sheriff Arpaio is a National hero. He is upholding his duty to protect and defend OUR country, OUR laws, and OUR people. He owes nothing to Mexico or its people and in my opinion, he gives them too much respect. If he had 10% of the money he has saved this country, he would be a very wealthy man indeed. Instead, he will get a medal, and WE will see to that!

Before you take great offense, think what you would do if the situation were reversed!

I listened to the entire Dobbs interview and my take on his speech/answers is that he was attempting to clarify various statements that the Hispanic community took to heart!
I believe the Mexican lady doing the interview seemed to want to out talk Dobbs, rather than allow him to clarify statements he made years ago and some, according to Dobbs, he in fact didn't make! If Dobbs was back pedaling, I don't think so! I believe he is still against 'amnesty' to just arbitarily make 12 to 20 million illegal aliens/immigrants US Citizens, with the stroke of a pen, as the White House, Reid and Pelosi want to do!
My own opinion is that if this government would simply ENFORCE our Constitution, the way it is written, a good number of the problems our country is facing, would diminish greatly! If they enforced immigration and started putting these people in jail for transportation back to where they came from, they might think twice about coming back! We, our government, needs to show these illegals that our laws do have teeth! As of right now, they are laughing at the government because they know this GD government will not enforce the Constitution! Before I go any farther, if this government would ENFORCE the Constitution, to the letter of the law, without any bias as to who a person is or what position he/she holds, Obama wouldn't be where he is at!
Back to Lou, I believe Mr. Dobbs is a man of his word! I believe he is for legally getting rid of the illegal aliens/immigrants, which I support! We can't just throw people of Spanish decent in jail for deportation! It does have to be proven that they are illegally in our country, then we get rid of them in accordance with the law! Hey, I think I found something. It's a video on the original CNN report on the leprosy issue, that Maria kept on challenging Lou on:

CNN reporter Christine Romans delivered the original report, and said that she was quoting Leprosy Expert Madeline Cosman, who died in 2006. I was beginning to wonder if the 7000 figure was abnormally high. Then I found this:

It's an article from 5-30-2007 in which Lou admits the inaccurate reporting that was made by his CNN contributors, and wanted to set the record straight. And yet, Maria wanted Lou to admit these mistakes all over again! I think she simply wanted to embarass Lou.

Maria was so sensitive about the original allegation of 7000 new cases of leprosy, even though Lou stressed that most of these cases were "primarily from illegal immigrants from South Asia". Puzzling.

Maria was also nitpicking on percentages. She wanted Lou to admit that the prison population contained only 1/4 illegal aliens, instead of 1/3, which was Lou's original report. Maria claimed that the US Dept of Justice said that non-citizens make-up only about 6%. Both Maria and Lou seemed to get confused about statistics for Federal vs State prisons.

Poor Lou. He was hoping to have a meaningful dialog on common sense solutions for our illegal immigration mess, and Maria just wanted to embarass him, as an integral part of promoting Amnesty for 20 million illegal aliens for 2010.

It's truly up to US, the citizens of the United States. We can't rely upon any of these politicians, a few rare and exceptional exceptions aside, like Sheriff Joe and a couple of good Sheriffs in North Carolina, and people like Tancredo when he was in the Congress.

The only other action Lou could have taken was to simply refuse to be interviewed by Telemundo. But Lou was determined to reach across the aisle, and attempt to have a meaningful dialog. Perhaps this was all futile. The only dialog that they're interested in is Amnesty and eventual US citizenship for 20 million illegal aliens, the vast majority of which is Hispanic.

Lou was also trapped into making what appeared to be an unfavorable response of Sheriff Joe Arpaio. Lou said that certain organizations were exercising their right to sue him. And Lou even said that, if Arpaio really did violate their civil rights, he should be prosecuted. But, of course, Arpaio enforces the law by the book, and fairly. Lou knew this, and we all know this.

Lou said that some illegals could be legalized "under certain conditions". This is a statement that needs clarification, and I guess ALIPAC is looking for that clarification. Perhaps what Lou meant is that all illegals who didn't participate in identity theft could be legalized. But that would exclude almost all of them!

What's so funny is that, after the interview, I noticed that some pro-illegal-immigrant publications were stating that "Lou Dobbs now favors a plan for legalizing all 12 million illegal aliens!" (12 million is the figure they use, instead of 20 million).

Anyway, still looking for that clarification.

As are we all. Time to clarify, Lou Dobbs.

It's obvious that Dobbs spent the entire 25 minutes equivocating. Someone mentioned he always seemed like a "straight-shooter" and I couldn't have agreed more. I want to give him the benefit of the doubt and will be listening and watching in the months to come for a possible explanation. If there is none, you can bet I will rescind my pledge to support his campaign.

Never has the mission of any rational unbiased American been to deny legal immigrants a chance. There are several major problems with our current immigration problem and all are based in DC.

The purpose of immigration was never to allow just anyone entrance and citizenship. When the country was young and under populated immigration was a source of people to settle the land and it was also a PRIVILEGE to become an American with the sole purpose of supporting the constitution as a citizen. This country is populated today and does not require more people however it can extend the PRIVILEGE of citizenship as a reward for good behavior or asylum not economic enhancement.

Funding is the job of congress and president. They have failed to uphold their constitutional duty in that respect as immigration control is among their prime duties.

The object of immigration today should be to bring the immigration control in line with the needs of the nation as stated above not the needs of would be inhabitants seeking a better life. Those here illegally should voluntarily leave unless they can show cause to conform to OUR needs and wishes NOT theirs. The people who came illegally can do more good for their own nations when in them actively engaged and speaking out and reaching out as that is what any good citizen of any nation must do. This country can only be an ally to a foreign nation when its citizens are in favor of our help legally. Coming here defeats that help. Illegal immigrants are traitors to their own countries not just violators of another's immigration laws.

Lou Dobbs understands the need for reform and that reform is not to treat any human being like an animal but to do so on a case by case basis while closing the borders and implementing a proper immigration law. Money can not be an object wherever national security is an issue as the founders quite properly stated. Lou gets it. Congress and the POTUS need to respect the constitution, which they currently do not. Pure and simple, open the courts up, sue the government for failure to uphold the constitution and get rid of any and every politician that violates their oath.

The very last place Lou Dobbs should be giving an interview with is an Hispanic station. Unless he wants to capture the Hispanic vote only.
I watched the entire interview and Lou was flubbering all over his answers. If Lou Dobbs is going to forget that most of his audience are patriotic Americans that want stop illegal immigration, then good riddance to him.

That is amnesty for illegal aliens.

I do not speak for ALIPAC, but I do know ALIPAC does not support amnesty for illegals.

The people who are here illegally should go back to their home country and come back legally. No amnesty. No special treatment. They go to the back of the line and do it the proper way.

They are not above the law and they definitely should not be able to sneak in, "show cause," and jump ahead of those people trying to come to the USA legally.

Lou Dobbs just did the same sheepish interview he did a year or so ago when he had the head of La Raza on his show. He cowed down to her and let her run the interview, get in his face, shout and demand his resignation. Seems that worked out for La Raza then and now.

He seems to be terrified of women or something because he let's them run all over him, yet, he can assert himself, and his ideas against a male. I think he's too weak for gov't office. JM.02W

If Dobbs supports amnesty I won't support him and I don't think anyone else should either.

I watched the video about 30 minutes ago so that I could take the survey. I read the comments on Thursday and Friday and didn't post a reply here until I had seen the video myself. I have learned the hard way that it is better to see/hear myself rather than depend on others for my own views. No offense to anyone - it is just me! First, why in the heck was he there? I agree with Maria that he sounds like a politician and that is NOT a good thing. He watched every word that came out of his mouth. We already have enough politicians, folks! They lie, cheat and steal to get votes! The second thing he did that rankled me was his constant reference to the "far left" as being the group most responsible for the "extreme rhetoric". Huh? I think it is a combination of progressives (if we grant amnesty, look at all those votes!), businessmen/women who like cheap labor (both sides of the political coin there), etc. But far left? No and he said it several times - looks like he is kissing up to Repubs or libertarians or ? but certainly not to the left. He is definitely saying there should be amnesty of some sort but doesn't say how. I DO agree that we need to secure our borders before anything else but that is about all I agree with him about. He is backing off from his firm stand on his TV show and trying to play both sides. He should know better! I am very upset about this turnabout he has made (or maybe he has always been that way and we are now seeing it?) and I definitely would NOT support him in any way politically. He is on my NOT list. :( I was totally irritated with Maria and her portrayal of the Sheriff - she didn't want to be told that all his inmates are treated the same, did she? Inhumane, my foot! Oh, I'll shut up now but I needed to vent and I thank you for the place to do so.

Yes, vent. It was a very disappointing interview. I too have no clue why he went on it, other than he wanted to reach out to the Legal Latino vote but of course was dragged through the murk of race cards because he opposes illegal immigration. We need to see what he says in reply to the uproar, and least I do, because I like his position on illegal immigration which is to stop it, I like his position on border and port security which is to secure them, I like his protectionist view on trade which is to protect ours, and as to the other ... "after borders are secured and US authorities have control of the borders to stop the flow, legalization of illegal aliens under conditions" ... well, we need a clarification because it will be years before we secure the borders and ports and stop the flow of illegal aliens .. so it's a futuristic general statement if and when based on the outcome and results we seek. Is that a "compromise"? Is it even a reality? Don't know, and we won't know for years based on his own actual statements.

But still, we need a clarification as to his intentions, if he even really has any regarding "legalization of illegal aliens" after the borders are secured and the flow of illegal aliens has stopped.

There are better candidates available.
