Donald Trump Versus Club For Growth

    http://www.businessinsider.com/donal...-growth-2015-6

Conservative group says Donald Trump's 'childish attack' shows 'what a joke his candidacy is'

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump claims that a conservative activist group is badmouthing him after he declined to donate $1 million. And he's calling on the group's president to resign. In a press release on Thursday, the real-estate mogul Trump implied that the Club for Growth's negative statements about Trump are directly related to the self-proclaimed billionaire's refusal to donate $1 million to the organization. He called on David McIntosh, the group's president, to "immediately" resign.

"I am appalled by Mr. McIntosh's shameless pandering and blatant shakedown attempt, exposing him and the Club for Growth as a fraud," Trump said in a statement.

Club for Growth spokesman Doug Sachtleben in response blasted what he called a "childish attack."

"Donald Trump’s childish attack on the Club for Growth shows what a joke his candidacy is," Sachtleben told Business Insider in an email.

"Trump asked for a meeting with the Club, and expressed interest in donating to our organization, so of course we responded. But obviously he had something else in mind, most likely getting the Club to stop pointing out his liberal positions on national health care, massive tax increases, and trade protectionism, which we did when he started his silly political roadshow back in 2011. If Donald Trump wants to pretend to be a candidate for president, then he should get some thicker skin,” Sachtleben said.

Trump is marking the opening of his Virginia wine enterprise, which he purchased from former socialite Patricia Kluge and her husband after the bank foreclosed on their business.

As Trump tells it, McIntosh had an approximately 30-minute meeting with Trump in May at Trump Tower. Trump said McIntosh praised the real estate mogul's "business success" and said that Washington needed someone like Trump.

Several days later, McIntosh sent a letter to Trump requesting a $1 million donation. Trump declined to donate before officially announcing his candidacy on Tuesday.

Earlier this week, the Club sent around a press release mocking the real-estate mogul's presidential aspirations. It referred to Trump as "not a serious Republican candidate" and said it would decline to do a white paper detailing his policy positions and prescriptions, which it has done for other candidates.

Given the history between Trump and the Club, it's surprising that he would consider donating to the group. The Club openly mocked Trump during his brief flirtation with a run in 2011.

"This publicity stunt will sputter and disappear just as quickly as the 'The Apprentice' is losing viewers," Chocola then-Club president Chris Chocola said in a 2011 statement, according to The Atlantic.

Oh my God, I LOVE TRUMP! I can't stand that Club for Growth, they're a bunch of breeder globalists who support amnesty for illegal aliens, free trade treason and increasing the US population to 600 million. They're disgusting!

And Trump just took 'em on.

    I love this guy already.

Wednesday, Jun 17, 2015 01:09 PM EST Let’s all remember that time when Donald Trump sounded like Bernie Sanders on healthcare

A key plank in Trump's 2000 platform? Socialized medicine!

The Donald made it official yesterday, announcing his campaign for president in a thriller of a kick-off speech complete with the obligatory China, Mexico and ISIS boogeyman references.

For those itching for more details on the real-estate mogul’s political positions, Buzzfeed sat down and had a read of Trump’s 2000 book, “The America We Deserve,”to scratch beneath the surface of “The Celebrity Apprentice” boss. The book, sold as “virtually a platform on the major political issues facing our country,” was meant to set the table for Trump presidential run (yes, Trump’s been playing this game for that long).

Some of the best nuggets suggest a couple of Trump flip-flops, shocker, but perhaps must surprising is Trump’s, who claims $9 billion in assets, remarkable commitment to programs like Social Security.

    Healthcare

Trump wrote 15 years ago that he supported universal healthcare because “we should not hear so many stories of families ruined by healthcare expenses,” writing that “I’m a conservative on most issues but a liberal on this one.”

Trump argued that “we need, as a nation, to reexamine the single-payer plan” — a key plank in democratic socialist Bernie Sanders’ 2016 campaign platform, Pointing to Canada’s government-run healthcare service, Trump said the U.S. will “have to improve on the prototype.”

Bot of course, Trump thinks Obamacare is “a big, fat, horrible lie” and “a total catastrophe,” which he’s promised “is going to be a disaster.” Trump has said that the health care law should be repealed and replaced but has ended his past talk of a universal, single-payer health care system.

    Abortion

Although Trump wrote of his “pro-choice instincts” in his 2000 book, writing that he supported “a woman’s right to choose,” he now describes himself as “pro-life.” Trump credits a friend’s decision to forgo an abortion with changing his mind on the issue:

One of the reasons I changed — one of the primary reasons — a friend of mine’s wife was pregnant, in this case married.
She was pregnant and he didn’t really want the baby. And he was telling me the story. He was crying as he was telling me the story. He ends up having the baby and the baby is the apple of his eye. It’s the greatest thing that’s ever happened to him.

    Social Security

Trump called for making Social Security solvent through a “one-time 14.25 percent tax on individuals and trusts with a net worth over $10 million.”

Trump still supports the government-run program, blasting fellow GOP 2016 hopefuls who’ve called for cuts or an increase in the retirement age. Trump criticized the Republicans plans as “not fair to the people that have been paying for years.”

Okay, if he still wants to save Social Security, that's terrific because of course we should. In 2000, the FairTax wasn't well known as the funding solution, now it is, hopefully Trump will get up to speed on it and see that the FairTax solves many problems without creating any new ones, and one of those is robust ear-marked funding for Social Security and Medicare!

As for a "universal health plan", even I support a generic basic health care plan that people can look to and use, not to the exclusion of others, but one that's available for people who just want a government reviewed simple coverage that they can afford. No mandates to use it, just available, and if they meet the income levels, perhaps some government assistance until more jobs are created, more employers provide coverage and wages get up to the levels where people can afford their own if their employers don't provide it.

Not sure what he means with his new personal view on abortion rights, but I'm sure we'll find out soon enough. That could be a deal-breaker. Until then ....

    GO TRUMP!

I've given Trump and other candidates consideration for a few days to a few weeks. I was exposed to much hype about the republican landslide after the '14 election. Up to now, there has been no evidence that there was any thing to celebrate in the results of that election. As a result of those results, I cannot see sending even one more republican to Washington as being a positive thing, as sending a mass of republicans to Washington last fall has not provided any positive results. Logically considering the evidence only new powerfully positive evidence provided by positive working results can change my mind.

If a majority of Congress is not changed by omitting republican and democrats on the hill you still have same ol' same ol'. that will not allow one man in the WH to legally make a huge difference. I see no chance of those being omitted from the next Congress.

It’s a matter of priorities folks. The number one priority over everything else should be absolute control of the border, no amnesty and illegal aliens made to go home.

Donald Trump’s statements have been very unequivocal and tough on ending the illegal alien invasion crisis. I loved it when he said he would build a wall on the Southern border and “believe me,” he said , ”I know how to build a wall…” and paraphrasing him: it will not cost a lot…and Mexico is going to pay for it…I know how make them pay for it.

How can any patriot not love this guy who says stuff like that? And remember he is so rich he will fund his own campaign and not be beholden to Mark Zuckerberg, the Silicon Valley mega rich and the Chamber of Commerce.

As to the other issues there are practical ways to fix Social Security and healthcare etc. All of these things can be worked out if we can prevent the Marxists from crating a blindly loyal voting block of tens of millions of aliens who will sweep away everything conservative or libertarian in near future elections.

    Therefore: TRUMP FOR PRESIDENT!!!

Absolutely! And don't forget the trade deals, he's hammered those for years and is hammering them again. It's cute to me how rough he is in his speaking ability, but to me that's good because it's unrehearsed, almost ad lib, and totally from the heart. I loved reading the transcript of his announcement speech. Some English professor wrote an editorial making fun of how he delivered his speech and rewrote it for him. I read them both, and frankly, I liked Trump's own words better. He talks the way Americans talk, rapid and from the heart and usually off the cuff. That made him so real to me.

    Therefore: TRUMP FOR PRESIDENT!!!
Right now, he's the best candidate in the running bar none.
