Take the poll too! Denver public schools have only a 52% grad rate....Yet they feel the best way to use taxpayer money to "Help the Children" is to protest and use resources to fight Arizona's new anti illegal immigration law!!

What a bunch of low life bums using kids as human shields to get funding to protest just and fair laws!!!! Makes me sick!!!!

Gotta love govt. education system!!

DPS Officials Enact Arizona Travel Ban
Kirk Siegler (2010-04-29)
DENVER, CO (KUNC) - Denver Public Schools is enforcing a ban on employee travel to Arizona, following that state's passage of a new law cracking down on illegal immigration. The school's superintendent is denying assertions that the move is politically motivated.

The blanket travel ban starts immediately, even though Arizona's law won't go into effect until summer. It's not clear just how many DPS officials travel to Arizona in any given year. But Superintendent Tom Boasberg says the ban is more than just symbolic.

"Our community is deeply outraged by the new Arizona law. I've heard clearly and passionately from our students, parents, teachers and our community members about their deep concern," he said, speaking at a press conference.

Boasberg says Arizona's new law reinforces the need for Congress to implement so-called comprehensive immigration reform.

The travel ban is being met with a lot of praise here but some criticism too. State Senate Minority leader Josh Penry calls it a move to score "cheap political points."

Among other things, the Arizona law requires law enforcement to question people about their immigration status. © Copyright 2010, KUNC
