Immigration protesters stage sit-in at Dianne Feinstein's L.A. office

A small group of immigrations protesters took over the lobby of Sen. Dianne Feinstein's West Los Angeles office Thursday.

The Los Angeles Police Department was responding to the incident, but officials said it was largely peaceful. It's unclear whether any arrests would be made.

At least four demonstrators were staging a sit-in at the lobby of the office. They were protesting in support of the so-called DREAM Act.

The federal legislation would provide certain undocumented alien students who graduate from U.S. high schools and have been in the country continuously for at least five years before the bill's enactment the opportunity to earn conditional permanent residency.

Gil Duran, a spokesman for Feinstein, said she supports the DREAM Act.

Last week, legislation backers blocked Wilshire Boulevard, prompting nine arrests.
