To "honor the dignity and work of immigrants," Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi helps Bishop Marc Andrus wash the feet of two children Thursday at Saint John the Evangelist Episcopal Church in San Francisco.

Pelosi also used the occasion to talk about passing HR15 - bipartisan immigration legislation that her office says would "reduce the deficit by nearly $1 trillion, secure our borders, unite our families, protect our workers and provide an earned pathway to citizenship."

The Democratic leader's ceremony coincides with Pope Francis' similar ceremony in Rome to mark Holy Week. As he did last year, the pope broke with the tradition of washing only priests' feet during the Mass for the Last Supper - this time, washing the feet of disabled people.

Photo op, or publicity stunt–this smacks of ulterior motive and hypocrisy. I’m surprised the water didn’t run red. Maybe she prays to the patron saint of Planned Parenthood.

Dennis Miller was right. Nancy Pelosi is Bat Shit Crazy. This bat shit crazy Nancy should be washing the feet & shinning the shoes of Senator Ted Cruz..

Nancy Pelosi has embraced her religious roots and joined forces with Bishop Marc Andrus to — as she put it — “honor the dignity and work of immigrants” by taking bended knee and washing feet at Saint John the Evangelist Episcopal Church in San Francisco.

Mrs. Pelosi’s official Twitter account sent out the picture of the Democratic House Minority Leader washing the feet of two children, alongside the bishop.

And social media reaction was mixed, at best, with some accusing her of using the Easter season to stage a political prop.

Her tweet: “Honored to be in the Mission to assist Bishop Andrus as he washes the feet of immigrant families.”

And tweeted responses: “@NancyPelosi u r such a phony multi millionaire,” said one.

This is no joke; at least it’s not meant to be one. The ever-clownish Nancy Pelosi took time out Thursday to "honor the dignity and work of immigrants," in the words of the San Francisco Chronicle blog SFGate, by washing the feet of immigrant children at the Bay City’s Saint John the Evangelist Episcopal Church.

Never one to stray far from politics, Pelosi used the occasion to talk about passing HR15 — an immigration bill that her office says would “reduce the deficit by nearly $1 trillion, secure our borders, unite our families, protect our workers and provide an earned pathway to citizenship."

Critics of the measure have argued that the cost of implementation would far outweigh any possible benefits.

Pelosi’s message — which has been echoed in one form of another by top Democrats (Hillary Clinton, as a case in point, called illegals “inspiring” and “incredibly brave”) — is intended to mimic the actions of the Pope, who held a similar foot-washing ceremony in Rome to mark Holy Week.

Conservative leader and Catholic L. Brent Bozell III today blasted Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) for mimicking the pope's Holy Week foot-washing tradition while touting her immigration reform legislation:

"I am a Catholic and I am offended at Minority Leader Pelosi's continued abuses of the Catholic Church's teachings and traditions. As a Catholic who has watched Ms. Pelosi champion one anti-Catholic cause after another, I believe this to be sacrilegious.

"Christ taught the washing of the feet as an act of utter humility, while she turned a sacred religious tradition into a grandstanding political publicity stunt. Ms. Pelosi's politicizing of Holy Week is sickening and shameful."

Bozell is reacting to a report by SFGate.com that Rep. Pelosi joined the Episcopal bishop of California in washing the feet of two immigrants:

"To 'honor the dignity and work of immigrants,' Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi helps Bishop Marc Andrus wash the feet of two children Thursday at Saint John the Evangelist Episcopal Church in San Francisco."

The article goes on to describe how Pelosi was imitating the pope's Holy Week practice, as well as how she used the occasion to promote her immigration reform legislation.

It used to be said that the most dangerous place in the world was standing between Jesse Jackson and a camera. Nancy Pelosi is even more shameless in her self-promotion, opting to publicly hold the pitcher at a foot-washing for some illegal aliens. The clear reason was a photo-op to promote illegal alien amnesty and the simultaneous illegal voter recruitment drive.
In what she marketed as an effort “ to honor the dignity and work of immigrants,” Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi held a pitcher for photographers as Bishop Marc Andrus washed the feet of two illegal aliens. The event took place Thursday at Saint John the Evangelist Episcopal Church in San Francisco.
Just for fun, see if you can name one instance where Pelosi has honored the dignity and work of Americans. Take your time, it’s a tough question.
The propaganda of the day was her declaration that passing illegal amnesty would “reduce the deficit by nearly $1 trillion, secure our borders, unite our families, protect our workers and provide an earned pathway to citizenship.”
The arguments against this drivel are clear, but that doesn’t stop the ding bat Democrat from her proclamations. Why not predict it would reduce the deficit by zillions? In a land with a compliant media, it doesn’t have to be true, it just has to sound good and make for a great photo-op.
