RENO, Nev. — A man faces federal charges of allegedly recruiting illegal immigrants to work for a Reno electronics manufacturing and assembly corporation.

Luis Enrique Valverde was arrested Tuesday by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. He is charged in a complaint with two counts of encouraging and inducing an illegal immigrant to reside in the United States/aiding and abetting.

Authorities believe 44-year-old Valverde is himself an illegal immigrant from Costa Rica.

Valverde allegedly asked an illegal immigrant from Guatemala and one from Mexico to work for Vital Systems Corp., where he was employed from 1999 until December 2008.

A man who answered a call from The Associated Press at Vital Systems on Wednesday would not comment, would not give his name and would not take a message.
