Presidential candidate coming to city

Republican presidential candidate Duncan Hunter will make a campaign stop in Burlington on Monday.

Hunter will give a speech to the Alamance County Republican Party at noon.

The speech, which is part of a buffet lunch, will be held at the Ramada Inn in Burlington.

The hotel is off N.C. 62 and Ramada Road between Mebane Street and Interstate 85/40. Tickets to the luncheon cost $25 and are available at the door, said Robert Simpson, the chairman of the county Republicans.

Hunter, 59, is a Southern California congressman who has represented San Diego County since 1981. His district shares a border with Mexico.

He is the former chairman and now ranking member of the House of Representative’s Armed Services Committee.
