A tea party group that launched a petition drive to prosecute U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder reported on its Facebook page that nearly 1 million have signed on — and the movement is only growing by the minute.
The petition from TheTeaParty.net states, in part: “A person is supposed to be innocent until proven guilty. That’s not the case, however, in Obama’s America when he needs to manipulate the people for his own political expediency. Who can he always rely on to be his hatchet man? None other than Attorney General Eric Holder. Do you stand with us in calling for Holder’s resignation and prosecution?”
Signing the online petition sends a letter directly to the signer’s congressional representatives, the site reported. And the group reports on its Facebook page that “we are almost at one million letters.”
The petition doesn’t list any particular grievance that’s of issue to the group — but social media users who posted comments below the petition supplied some insights.
On Thursday, the comment section was still growing.
Jeff Wainwright wrote: “I still have not forgotten about Benghazi, and just what has been done, that’s right, nothing.”
And from Marylee Bender Tharp: “This is long over due. This man has blood on his hands, from way back.”
From Paul H. Slack: “He thinks he is above the law!”
And Kelly Shepherd Carvalhol: “I just read that this administration is helping to fund anti-Zimmerman ads!”
That last comment was in reference to recently released documents — due to a Freedom of Information Act request from Judicial Watch detailed on Hot Air — that indicated the Department of Justice’s Community Relations Service unit spent significant time and money in part, one document read, “to provide support for protest deployment in [Sanford] Florida.”
