Man indicted on fraud charges with fake military IDs

A man from Argentina was indicted Wednesday in San Antonio on four federal charges of fraud with fake military identification cards.

Mario Oscar Achaval, 42, was first arrested in August by San Antonio police after witnesses reported that he had a handful of fake military ID cards and uniforms that he planned to use to illegally re-enter the United States because he was facing deportation over credit-card fraud charges in Florida.

Achaval, court records said, put together at least four different ID cards for himself, listing military ranks he did not hold – such as U.S. Army lieutenant colonel with the U.S. Special Operations Command.
