County wants shooting victims from Mexico taken to secure military facililities

El Paso County will ask for Homeland Security and Border Protection agencies to take shooting victims from Mexico to secure military facilities because of the potential danger to civilians at Thomason Hospital, county officials said.
The El Paso government and law enforcement officials are having a meeting this afternoon to discuss concerns about the security lockdowns at Thomason Hospital due to the arrival of patients wounded in shootings in Mexico.

Shooting victims, including high-ranking police officials, have been transported to the county hospital for treatment because of the violence in Juárez and other parts of the state of Chihuahua. Thomason Hospital is the only level one trauma center within 280-miles of El Paso capable of providing the level of care those patients required.
