El Paso student missing in Juárez

Juárez authorities have issued an alert for a missing Austin High School student.

Cristina Escobedo Valles, 15, was last seen Saturday at her home in the Felipe Angeles neighborhood in west Juárez, said Chihuahua state authorities. On Tuesday, the Juárez version of an Amber Alert was issued for the teen.

A spokesman with the Chihuahua state attorney general's office said Escobedo attends Austin High School in El Paso but was still believed to be in Mexico because she left her Laser Visa at home. An El Paso Independent School District official confirmed Escobedo is in ninth grade at Austin.

Anyone with information on Escobedo may call the state missing persons unit in Juárez at 656-629-3300, exts. 56454 and 56455.
