MEXICO CITY — Mothers of Central American migrants missing in Mexico have staged a protest at Mexico's Congress to demand information on their loved ones.
Mothers carrying a Honduran flag and chanting "Not one more death" marched through the Congress building in Mexico City on Thursday before meeting with legislators about their plight.
Mexico's government acknowledges it must do more to protect Central American migrants who are frequently robbed or kidnapped as they cross Mexico trying to reach the U.S. border.
Congressman Hector Pedraza says at least 800 migrants have disappeared in the last decade.
Gunmen believed linked to a drug cartel massacred 72 mostly Central American migrants in August in the border state of Tamaulipas.
