Is it me or are these people just plain braindead? It's simple, obey the law and you won't have anything to worry about, break the law and pay the price. What is so freaking hard to understand about that?

Anyone of us tried to apply for a job with a fake SS #, we'd all be doing time. Why should it be different for an illegal?

According to police, Martinez acknowledged buying the social security card for $110 at a Wal-Mart. She also had a second social security card and two counterfeit cards stating she was a legal permanent resident.
Well, I guess we know why they LOVE the wal mart!

Laws and policies prohibit employers from scrutinizing a job applicant's identity or work eligibility before they are hired, said Walker, an El Paso lawyer and former president of the American Immigration Lawyers Association.
What a load of BS! Some jobs actually require a security clearance as a prelude to hiring. I can definitely understand why a background check was being conducted on someone applying to work at a hospital.

    Ditto

Do you want an illegal or criminal having access to YOUR personal information. I would love it if they stole some of these politicians ID's. I bet we'd get things cleared up and I mean NOW.

During yet another year marked by several high profile immigration raids targeting both undocumented workers and the companies who hire them, the case raises questions about what employers can or should do if they discover an applicant is not authorized to work legally in the U.S.
Why are there any questions or even discussion about reporting someone that is in flagrant violation of the law. Does that also mean that employers who find cases of employees embezzling money or stealing everything they can get their hands on should not report those employees to the authorities?
The first crime committed was coming here illegally, the second was buying fake documentation and the third is trying to use those documents to defraud an employer. And if the employer had not reported this person, they could easily be accused of aiding and abetting.
