Day laborers still standing

Friday around 7:15 a.m., about 10 day laborers stood in the parking lot of Mama Mai’s along Bus. 29.

Another 10 or so congregated up the road in the shoulder, near the guardrail, in front of the Culpeper Motor Corp.

Across the street in the parking lot of the Sleepy Hollow Hotel, a third, smaller, group of mostly Hispanic men stood around waiting to get picked up for work.

As long as the day laborers are standing on private property, and the contractors picking them up are pulling off the public road to do so, it would not be applicable for the town to erect “no stopping or standingâ€
