Marijuana seized Thanksgiving

U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officers stopped a drug smuggling attempt when they seized nearly 27 pounds of marijuana from a 25 year-old man on Thanksgiving morning.



On Thanksgiving Day at about 6a.m. CBP Officers at the Douglas Port of Entry were screening travelers and vehicles when they came in contact with a 25-year-old man driving a Chevy Corsica. The man was identified as a Mexican National and resident of Cananea, Sonora, Mexico. The CBP Officers became suspicious of the man and selected him for further inspection. The vehicle was searched and discovered that the rocker panels of the Corsica were loaded with packages of marijuana. The total weight of marijuana was 27 pounds with an estimated street value of $28,000.

CBP Officers seized the vehicle and marijuana. The man was turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement for questioning and further investigation.

CBP officers arrest woman for drug smuggling

U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officers stopped a drug smuggling attempt when they seized 21 pounds of marijuana from a 38-year-old woman.

On Wednesday, November 25, at about 1 p.m. CBP Officers at the Douglas Port of Entry were screening travelers when they came in contact with a 38-year-old woman driving a 1994 Pathfinder. The woman was identified as a resident of Sonora, Mexico. The CBP Officers selected the vehicle for inspection. Utilizing high-tech equipment, and with the assistance of a Narcotics K-9 Team. CBP Officers discovered that the back door of the pathfinder was loaded with 21 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $34,000.

CBP Officers seized the vehicle and marijuana. The woman was turned over to the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement for further investigation.

Two bicycles seized at Port

U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officers stopped a drug smuggling attempt On Wednesday, November 28, when they apprehended two bicycles with marijuana concealed in the wheels.

On November 27th at about 11:30 a.m. CBP Officers were screening travelers when they observed two 15-year-old boys approaching the Primary Vehicle Lanes. Each boy was riding a bicycle. Both boys were identified as Mexican nationals and residents of Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico. The CBP Officers searched the bicycles and found that the tires of both bicycles had been loaded with marijuana. The total weight of marijuana was about 7 pounds for an estimated street value of over $11,000.

CBP Officers seized the marijuana and bicycles. The boys were questioned by Immigration and Customs Enforcement and then released to the custody of their parents.
