Ex-Denver shelter worker gets probation for dog sex

A former dog shelter volunteer was sentenced to two years probation today and ordered to stay away from animals after he was caught having sex with a basset hound outside the shelter.

Gustavo Castanon also will get surprise visits from probation officers at his home to ensure there are no animals there, said Denver District Judge Robert B. Crew Jr.

Castanon will remain in the Denver County Jail for another 10 days on an immigration hold. If Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials don't pick him up by then, he will be released and begin his probation, Crew said.

Castanon was dismissed as a volunteer at Denver's Municipal Animal Shelter after being spotted in late September by an employee behind the building with the dog. Castanon was half-naked and coaxing the dog to perform oral sex, the police report said.

Castanon has remained jailed on animal cruelty charges, unable to come up with $10,000 bail.

Castanon was convicted in 1998 of exposing himself at Cheesman Park, according to court records.

Unfortunately, this is not the first case of an illegal alien having sex with a dog story we have run into. There is an older story in our archives about an illegal alien caught by police having sex in the woods with a puppy.

There is another story involving goats, from a place near Raleigh NC that we decided not to place out in the open.

Why in the world wasn't he deported after the first incident - of exposing himself? Did they think somehow this illegal was going to become a great citizen - given time?

What else might he have done - that didn't get reported?


I don't think all illegals are of this caliber, but the more I hear about it, the more I believe that Mexico 'encourages' its criminals and misfits to come here. Wonder how much our politicians are getting paid to force us to have to live with this scum.

This person is just as much of an animal as is the animal involved. How absolutely revolting. The other story mentioned by William, when the guy was accosted, his reponse was, "what's the problem, it's my dog." Just how warped can one person get??!!

He should have been deported then and registered as a sex offender.

Anti-animal cruelity people should be made aware of this. They are the ones that can push the best for deportation of these incididents, I'd think.

They also are likely to know if law enforcement is handling it correctly by just letting him go.

Scum has been here a long time, where does he work? Is he on welfare?
Has he a family of illegals in Denver? A guy this sick just might have done some other sex crimes between 1998 his other arrest and this crime.

Will a child be next? When will ICE pick him up after he rapes a child?

He sure as hell better be picked up by ICE and then deported!!! How revolting! More hard working, Norman Rockwell like illegals with great family values.
