EXPLOSIVE DEVICE MISSING

Law enforcement officers are asking for help in locating a device used in oil field production that contains explosives and is deemed dangerous to the public.
Grover Crossland, ATF special agent in the Tyler bureau, said a truck driver with Precision Energy Services reported he left with a certain number of jet injection tools on his truck and was missing one upon arrival at his destination in Henderson County.
The jet injection tool is used in the oil field industry to blast out rock and such and prevents clogging of oil lines in place at a well site.
The tool is compiled of explosives and a detonating cord and is described as a metal pipe that is 4 feet long and 6 inches in diameter. It is marked with an explosive device placard.
"They are both dangerous and can both be deadly. I have never seen one of these used as a terrorist tool, but we need to find it as soon as possible," he said.
The truck driver's route was from the North-Northwest Loop 323 area to Texas Highway 31 west heading toward Athens.
Crossland said he did not know if the device was stolen or simply fell off the truck during the route.
"We are interviewing the driver and talking to him. We are searching the area to find it," he said.
Anyone who locates the tool should immediately contact the closest law enforcement agency or fire department.
