MARTINEZ – Lucila Martinez, 22, was released after serving four years in prison for throwing her newborn down the airshaft of her building. She is currently in the custody of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency.

The West New York woman who pleaded guilty to throwing two of her newborn infants down the air shaft of her building on separate occasions is now in the custody of immigration officials awaiting a deportation hearing. But questions remain.

Lucila Rubidia Ventura Martinez, 22, was recently released from jail after completing a four year sentence for aggravated assault and manslaughter. In 2007, police found that Ventura had given birth to an infant in her bathroom and allegedly threw him out of the building. Though the child, a boy later named David, survived, the remains of another infant were found near the area. The remains were said to be those of a newborn baby girl whom Martinez had also given birth to in her bathroom in 2005.

We're going to be paying for this woman's entire life. I'll be astounded if she gets deported.

Yea...I get that same sense as well! Even if she is deported, chances are she will be back within a very short time...

Women who commits crimes as horrific as this should be sterilized. Considering her mental status and low IQ she should never have children.

Officials charged that Martinez’s father, Francisco Ventura, had sexually assaulted his daughter and was the father of the newborns.

Martinez pleaded guilty and was originally sentenced to five years in prison. But due to mitigating factors including Martinez’s below average IQ, past history of being sexually assaulted as a minor, and depression, her sentence was reduced to four years.
Did y'all miss the part where it states she was sexually assaulted by her father? Throw in the low IQ and this girl/woman was nothing more than a victim. How do we know that her father didn't force her to get rid of the babies? She isn't an animal, her father sure is. I agree that she should be deported, and so should her parents and anyone else related to her who is in this country illegally. There's no way that someone in her family didn't know what was happening. Hopefully she can go somewhere where she can continue to get help.
