Forgive me if this is duplicate post, I received the following from FAIR today and I was so angered by the underhanded means of passing a pro-illegal bill that I wrote both of my senators immediately. My letter is below. Obviously, they are so afraid of the public backlash, they are now trying to sneak something through.

From FAIR: Sources all over Capitol Hill are buzzing with information that guest worker amnesty legislation will be on Senate floor the week of May 14, 2007! The exact details of the bill -- negotiated entirely behind closed doors -- are known only to a few select staff members, but Senate staff has told FAIR that it will likely be a version of the White House plan or the Flake-Gutierrez bill. Congress Daily is similarly reporting that the Senate immigration bill will probably include a "Z visa" that will allow illegal aliens to stay and work in the United States-a provision taken directly from the White House proposal.

Not only are all of these negotiations going on behind closed doors, but the resulting product of those negotiations won't even be introduced as formal legislation. Congress Daily is now reporting that to get this massive guest worker amnesty plan passed, Senate leaders are planning to go to the Senate floor, amend the language onto an existing bill and then vote on it. By not introducing a formal bill and taking the debate straight to the floor, it is clear that Senate leaders are attempting to bypass the Committee review process and fast-track amnesty legislation through Congress with as little debate as possible. We need your help to stop it!!

This is what I wrote to my Senators:

Dear Senator XXX,

I received information today from Federation for American Immigration Reform stating that negotiations for a guest worker bill is being negotiated behind closed doors. The information also stated that to get this massive guest worker amnesty plan passed, Senate leaders are planning to go to the Senate floor, amend the language onto an existing bill and then vote on it.

By not introducing a formal bill and taking the debate straight to the floor, it is clear that Senate leaders are attempting to bypass the Committee review process and fast-track amnesty legislation through Congress with as little debate as possible.

If this type of underhanded, sneaky and deplorable abuse of due process is what is required to get a bill passed, it obviously should not be passed. If members of the Senate are so aware that open debate will kill the hopes for the bill's passage, it is not in the best interest of, or wanted by citizens.

As I said in an earlier message; Senators that support this type of legislation, especially in such a sneaky manner, do so at their own peril. The voters will be watching, if this type of legislation passes I will actively campaign against you in any future aspirations you have as a lawmaker. I know millions feel the same way I do.

On the heels of this weeks marches, it should be obvious that the country does not want this type of bill to pass. As a member of a representative government, you have an obligation to represent the citizens.

Sincerely,
