A fairgrounds stop for Chelsea Clinton
    2:28 PM EDT, March 28, 2008

Customers who went to the Allentown Fairgrounds Farmers Market on Friday got more than tomatoes, blueberries and Pennsylvania Dutch fare: They got a little face time with the former president's daughter.

Chelsea Clinton made an unannounced visit to the fairgrounds between scheduled stops at Lehigh Valley Hospital and Northampton Community College. Clinton, 28, has been as busy as her dad Bill (who made five stops through the Keystone State on Thursday) and her mom, presidential candidate Sen. Hillary Clinton (who spent yesterday in North Carolina).

The visit, said Chelsea, was at least her 100th appearance in 32 states, part of her nationwide tour.

The former first daughter started the day with a morning speech to a couple hundred people at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest. During the hourlong question-and-answer session, Chelsea fielded topics including the war in Iraq, social security, education and of course, a broad range of health care issues.

Her mother was a universal health care proponent in 1993 and 1994, Chelsea noted, "before it was fashionable."

The mostly health care professionals had at times painful, and personal stories to share: the patient without health insurance whose drug prescription costs had risen to $34,000; the woman whose son had died because he was unable to get proper treatment for his mental health problems; the undocumented immigrant who had a lump on her breast but no money for treatment.
Speaking softly, yet eloquently, Chelsea laid out what her mother intended to do to help alleviate the problems facing the county's uninsured and sick, pointing to greater use of generic drugs, the dismantling of Medicare Part D and funding for stem cell research.

Next it was off to the market, where dozens of happy customers followed her quick visit, shaking her hand and offering Hillary Clinton endorsements.

Chelsea also picked up several bags of fruit, nuts and other snacks.

She left the farmers market shortly before 1 p.m. and headed to the community college, where she was to speak to students.

Ahhh, the Lehigh Valley, hotbed of illegal aliens.

For the Illegal alien lady who has a lump on her breast, but "no money ", I suggest she go back home and get it taken care of. We all have to PAY for our health care coverage and YOU are not my problem!
