Fairness Doctrine hammered 309-115
Fairness Doctrine hammered 309-115

The House voted overwhelmingly Thursday to prohibit the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) from using taxpayer dollars to impose the Fairness Doctrine on broadcasters who feature conservative radio hosts such as Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity.
By a vote of 309-115, lawmakers amended the Financial Services and General Government appropriations bill to bar the FCC from requiring broadcasters to balance conservative content with liberal programming such as Air America.
The vote count was partly a testament to the influence that radio hosts wield in many congressional districts.
It was also a rebuke to Democratic senators and policy experts who have voiced support this week for regulating talk radio.
House Democrats argued that it was merely a Republican political stunt because there is little danger of the FCC restricting conservative radio while George W. Bush is president.
Republicans counter that they are worried about new regulations if a Democrat wins the White House in 2008.
Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) said on Tuesday that the government should revive the Fairness Doctrine, a policy crafted in 1929 that required broadcasters to balance political content with different points of view.

Why don't the liberals just start their own radio shows to present the opposing argument of conservatives? Most likely there isn't a huge market for such shows, but they still have the freedom to do so nonetheless. There's no need for this legislation and there's nothing "fair" about it. It's simply a left measure to try and silence talk radio, nothing more.
So liberals, stop your complaining, spend your own money and try to succeed on your politically correct radio and tv shows.
I wish you luck on that one."Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting the same results is the definition of insanity. " Albert Einstein.

The Dems just won't admit that main-media and most newspapers are controlled outlets that list to the left.
The hard-core left-mouths just can't keep the public interested -- they just have nothing to talk about except the same ole rhetorical blather day in an day out. With a sprinkling of insane conspiratorial moments here and there, who'd stay tuned into that junk? Besides Rosie?

Sippy, the liberals have tried to host radio talk shows. They fail every time. Air America has bombed!! That is why they are angry. They can't make it in radio so they want to force themselves on an audience that do not want to listen to them!!

For the Lott leftists it seems to be "Freedom of Speech, just watch what you say." "Censorship is unAmerican unless I am losing." What a great message to send to our children. I am tired of these idiots, glad they lost.

For me, a big fear is watching how the public educational process is being used to reshape sound logic and philosophy into a twisted mindset that accepts this type of controlled "reasoning".

We saw this with the immigration debate where Kennedy, Bush and the OBLs spewed NOTHING but emotional blather and false information to try to support their side.
The few people showing any rationality were Jeff Sessions and a couple other Senators. They were the ONLY ones who seemed capable of thinking through and breaking down the details of the amnesty bill into its destructive components.
Clearly, for the most part, the people we are electing are NOT rocket scientists.
