Falfurrias: Border Patrol arrests convicted kidnapper

Border Patrol agents at the Falfurrias Border Patrol checkpoint arrested a convicted kidnapper after he tried to re-enter the country.

The man, whose age and name was not released late Thursday, was convicted of aggravated kidnapping in 2003 in Raleigh, N.C., and sentenced to 30 months in state prison. After serving his sentence, he was deported to Mexico.

Agents assigned to the Falfurrias Border Patrol Station this week arrested a group of undocumented immigrants who tried to pass through the checkpoint on foot.

When the man was fingerprinted, Border Patrol agents discovered his criminal history and previous deportation record.

He remained in the Brooks County Detention Center with no possibility for bond and awaited prosecution for re-entering the country late Thursday.
