Nation Screams Protect Borders, Democrats Troll For Votes

Segel: While The Nation Screams Protect The Borders, Democrats Troll For Votes

For months all of America has been calling out to Washington..."Protect us, secure our borders." The only answers the people have received from the Democrat Administration and Congressional Majority is..."The only way we can do that is with amnesty and comprehensive immigration reform!" In English that translates into "The only way we can do this is for you to help us secure a future Hispanic voting bloc."

It is clear to anyone who seriously studies the politics of this nation that pandering to the largest minority-voting bloc in the country is of the highest importance to the left of center Democrat movement. It is more important to them than the security of the nation they have sworn to defend. If such a statement seems overly harsh, then explain the lack of border enforcement and the continuing attempts by the Administration to demonize any legitimate attempts by states to protect the lands and the people who have been abandoned by the federal government.

The elected officials of this country cannot even tell you how many illegal aliens can be found within our borders. Numbers are picked out of the air, ranging from four or five million people to as high as twenty million individuals who have broken the laws of the United States and are now living among us. Though the politically correct speech of the day always fails to call them what they truly are...these undocumented workers are, in addition to those who are seeking employment, a wide variety of criminals who have violated our borders, smuggled in narcotics, entered the country to commit wide ranging crime and in many cases are here threatening to spread infectious diseases due to their own health status as they crossed into the United States.

Each day, along our southern border, government agents and local law enforcement intercept narcotics by the thousands of pounds. But, even as the drug busts grow in number and total volume, our officials admit they are only stopping a trickle in the flow of these narcotics. This is proven time and again by observing the increased availability of a wide spectrum of drugs across the country. Also proving the truth of the statement is a modification in prices charged to customers on the street.

Border Patrol agents believe the increased drug volume is due to more and more illegal aliens serving as mules and moving the narcotics into the country under the supervision of drug cartel coyotes.

As the illegal traffic increases, more and more concerned citizens worry about the importation of infectious disease. For example, tuberculosis had almost been eradicated in the southern United States. But, it is showing resurgence. Hospitals in Texas dedicated to curing this highly infectious disease have even been closed in recent years. Yet in border counties there are ever increasing reports of the ailment. For every dozen new TB cases reported, eleven of them are brought into the United States from across the southern border. The new TB cases have also proven themselves to be very resistant to treatment.

Is this an important concern? All categories of tuberculosis spread as air borne infections. A contagious person just coughing in an enclosed room can pass it to others. The illegal alien traffic is often hauled across the country in closed, crowded vehicles. The people are usually crammed into tightly sealed stash houses or safe houses while they await transportation. Under these conditions one contagious person can spread the illness to many.

An example of concern about the spreading of disease took place in the Veterans Affairs Clinic in McAllen, Texas just last week. One person in a crowded waiting room was found to have tuberculosis. Now the VA is attempting to locate and test more than 250 veterans who were in that waiting room at the time the infected man was seeking treatment.

One other important thing to be considered when addressing the topic of securing our borders...what about the introduction of biological weapons?

Tuberculosis has been addressed because there are documented cases of it happening right now. But, what about our enemies sending across infected people to live among us and spread their illnesses? Airborne infections can range from measles to small pox, influenza to Lassa and Marburg to Ebola. These are but a few of the virus's people could carry. There are also a number of airborne fungus and bacteria that could be added to the mix and brought across the border by unknowing carriers.

We have only touched on problem areas of unsecured borders. And be assured, they are far more porous than they are protected...all because the federal government refuses to act and place national security in front of trolling for votes. So, be it to stop increased drug traffic, a possible medical epidemic, drug cartel violence or just "undocumented workers" taking needed American jobs, We should all demand and make sure we receive secure borders.

I live in MI. Imagine if I were to try to run for mayor in my city. Why would I go over to, say, Utah, to pander for votes? I should be speaking to my true constituents, the ones legally here, citizens. If I can win over the majority of the citizens, then why do I have to go outside my local sphere to recruit elsewhere? This is what I don't get. Why doesn't the government take an interest in the citizenry. If they act in our interests, why wouldn't they get the votes needed to win? What is the point in granting amnesty to 20-25 million illegals to get the needed votes?
