Crackdown a boost for U.S. workers

    "Jobs Americans won't do."

It's one of the most popular phrases on television and in newspapers. You've probably heard politicians or business leaders say it countless times.

Even though it's a lie and nothing more than an excuse to depress wages for the working class, some people believe it because they've heard it repeated hundreds of times.

Politicians have used the line to explain why we need a guest-worker program. It's also the argument favored by those supporting amnesty for illegal aliens.

Instead of helping our economy, as some suggest, the influx of poor, uneducated laborers has depressed American wages, especially in areas where illegal immigration is the heaviest. In those areas, Americans did the "jobs Americans won't do" until employers discovered they could pay illegal aliens half the amount they were paying American workers.

The "jobs Americans won't do" line came up again earlier this week during discussion of the planned White House crackdown on illegal workers, expected to begin within 30 days.

Among other things, employers will now be required to fire employees who are unable to clear up problems with their Social Security numbers within 90 days after being notified. Employers who fail to comply could face criminal penalties.

While the cries will undoubtedly continue from businesses built on cheap labor, the crackdown is good for American workers. It could also be an important step in bringing back the middle class, the same group that began disappearing about the same time we started hearing about "the jobs Americans won't do."

That's why employers are crying so hard. They know they are going to have to fill these jobs with Americans and they know Americans aren't going to work for the little left over crumbs they want to throw while driving around in there BMW's.

Americans are smart enough not to let themselves be screwed.

The economics of illegal immigration's households has always fascinated me. How could they rent a house in my area when they make peanuts? Answer: when you have a whole bunch of small-time breadwinners in a household pooling their wages, that's how. Especially if you can supplement with social benefits targetted to poor families.

    "Jobs Americans won't do."

    1. Enforce our laws (Executive branch of government)
    2. Do the jobs they were "hired" to do (Legislative Branch of government)
    3. Enforce the Constitution ( Judicial Branch of government)

    Nuff said????????

What these politicians don't mention is how the illegals make up their pay with social program fraud and abuse, crime, drugs, and every other illegal way of making money. And our communities suffer...

    That's it.

It could very well be the original renter is getting subsidized rent, and utilities - or stolen utilities. In FW they realized a lot of people were bypassing the water meter. I feel sure the meter reader would have had to notice a house where peole were living and supposedly had the meter off - but that's the way things are done I guess.

I have seen where they actually hooked into the electrical source up on the pole and looped the large wire down and through a hole drilled in the house. You know the light company, the police, the postman, all kinds of people realized this was happening - and yet never said anything.

Also, we have to look at the 'cheap wages. Yes, they are cheap to the business owner - and there are other factors involved, overtime, working conditions, etc.

What we really need to do is look at their wages and remember there are no taxes withheld. If they make $400 a week - the bring home $400 a week.

Also, they don't have to pay a dime in medical expenses - none and get complete healthcare.

No auto insurance - that's a chunk of any citizen's paycheck.

No DL - or inspection on their autos. If they get a ticket, they just ignore it.

Many do steal. I'm sorry people, it is true. They do. I haven't been to a flea market in a long time, but have hard the illegals have taken over the flea markets. Yes, some could just be enterprising, but if you have a group stealing in one city and another group selling it elsewhere, it's total profit.

Churches are very charitable to illegals. A lot of churches I know have 'church closets' and they give clothing, food, household goods, etc. to illegals - whether they need it or not.

So when you add all the 'goodies' to that $400 a week, that's a pretty good salary.

I go to a lot of garage sales and illegals have a lot of them. Some are just clothing they sell mostly to other illegals - but many times, the items will be brand new, in packages, and smaller items. I am not talking dozens of these items, just a half dozen at the most. I always think they may be stolen.
